Chapter 17: Back to China

Our morning classes ended early and it felt like it was a blur. I guess it was because I can't seem to focus. I was not paying attention because of the thoughts running inside my head.

We were in the classroom waiting for the lunch bell to ring. However we were all surprised to see our teacher come in.

We all took our seats and went silent as he sat down his desk.

"Okay class I have a very short announcement to make. Classes this afternoon will be suspended due to the faculty meeting."

Everyone including me expressed joy and excitement. Some jumped up with joy.

"I expect everyone to be well informed about this announcement. Alright if there are no more questions, you are all dismissed."

We bid goodbye to our teacher as hr walked out of the room.

Getting ready to pack my bags, I felt a tap on my shoulder which made me flinch a bit.

I turned around to see who it was and it was Xinlong.

"Oh hi. You startled me a bit there. I totally forgot you where there."

I let out an awkward laugh that was followed by him laughing at how much I was awkward.

"Well first of all, ouch. You totally forgot about me. Second of all, wanna grab some lunch with he boys?"

Xinlong said and I can't help but feel a bit at ease.

"Sure. You can go first and I'll catch up okay?" I replied.

He gave me a nod and waved goodbye before going out the room.

That was strange. At first I felt awkward and confused towards him but when we talk casually, I feel at ease and comfortable.

I snapped myself out from those thoughts and started to repeat what I said a while ago.

'its not the right time'

I said to myself as I fixed my books and other scattered stuff inside my bag.

I fished out my phone from my pocket to text Chenle but as soon as I opened it, a message from him already appeared.

I opened the notification.

: Mingxiao I'm sorry I can't
join you and the boys for lunch today

Ow? Why? :

: I still need to meet up with mom at the hospital. We're paying the bill.

Can I go with you? :

: It's alright. No need. After you eat lunch with the boys we'll fetch at school. Okay?

Alright then. Okay. :

I  my phone back in my pocket and swung my mag over my shoulder, walking out the classroom to meet up with the boys.

The boys sat down the table enjoying their food.

"Mingxiao-jie do you want some?"

Shuyang said as he handed me some food from his lunch box.

"It's fine Shuyang. I'm actually quite full."
