"Mom...I have to tell you something." I said to her.

"Go ahead." She replied and stood up straight.

Right now I'm debating whether I should tell her or not.

"Uhm...nevermind..it's not important anyways.Let's go?"

I said to her and she only gave me a confused look before nodding and walking to dad's room.

'Who is that boy?'

"Mom is dad going to be okay?" I asked her trying to divert my attention to something more important rather than that boy I saw earlier.

What bewilders me is that 'How can a small thing, a boy rather, suddenly tug on to my curiosity'. I thought to myself.

As I asked that question, my mom's eyes showed a hint of pain and I immediately regret asking her that question. I didn't know how much it would affect her but I am pretty sure it has no positive effect on her.

Just by looking at her, my expression also did the same and dropped. As I was about to give up on getting her response, she replied with a cracking voice which I think was either because her throat was dry or maybe, she was about to cry....because of what i asked.

Either way, I really felt bad about it. It pains me to see her like this and what's worse is that I am sure that I will feel more of this pain if I see what state my father is in.

"Well...to be honest, Mingxiao, your father might not be in a good condition once you see him...but....I pray he'll be alright after a few days. He's a strong man so et's just give him a little bit more time to recover."

She said to me trying to hold herself from crying.

We continued walking and walking, taking the stairs even though there was an elevator. i didn't get it why also but i would rather go on and move to see my father rather than to do it the easy way and get lost in the crowd of people waiting for the elevator to arrive.

After a few minutes which took longer than expected, we finally reached a room which was the last room on the left side of the hospital's hallway.

We stood there frozen in our tracks. Mom looked at me and told the boys to excuse us for a while.

"Okay Mingxiao, you're finally going to meet him. Please, as i told you accept him. He has been a lot of help to us even though he's been gone for years. Do you promise me?"

My mom's hands were placed on top of my shoulders and I can feel sincerity in her voice as if she was asking me a favor. Instead of feeling confused like i was a while ago, I felt rather comfortable and ready to accept.

"Okay mom. I'll try my best."
