Praniti sat in front of a mirror, all decked up for the day's function, her baby shower.
Clad in a yellow saree and minimal jewellery, she looked like a goddess. Everyone around her was very happy for her. But a feeling of uncertainty didn't allow her to smile. She slowly looked up at the mirror and stared at her own reflection.

She looked absolutely normal and healthy. But deep inside, why does she feel she will be separated from her dear ones?
She slowly stroked her belly as a drop of tear trickled down her cheek.
'Why even am I crying?'she wondered.

A group of women helped Praniti stand and led her to the living room .The room was decorated with her favourite flowers.
She was made to sit on a chair and a puja was performed.
All the while, she could feel a pair of eyes fixed on her, absorbing her features.
She smiled faintly and looked at her husband who was standing in a corner, clad in a white shirt and dhoti.

The puja came to an end and the guests started approaching Praniti. They made her wear glass bangles of red and green, then applied turmeric paste on her face and hands. They also gave her a lot of gifts.

But all these gifts couldn't satisfy Praniti. She missed someone. Like hell. Her parents.

Her parents were against her and Ayush's love. So they had to elope and marry which angered her parents. They had cut all ties with her and would never pick up her calls.
She still had their photo hanging on the wall of her living room.
She slowly stared at the huge framed photo and felt her eyes sting.

She averted her gaze towards her husband who was now staring at her intently. He gestured her to wipe off her tears and eyed her to look at the entrance of the living room.

She followed his instructions and looked at the entrance only to be shocked beyond expectations.

She saw her parents standing in the entrance, looking at her with all their love.
The same people who never cared to know anything about her after her marriage was now walking towards her,all smiles.
The same couple who never give in to any of her pleas were now making her wear glass bangles.
Her birth givers who were always strict and once forbid her from meeting Ayush were now applying turmeric paste on her cheeks with utmost love.
Her parents, whom she thought would never agree with her relationship with Ayush were now blessing his baby.

She sobbed loudly all of a sudden, making her mother hug her and father stroke her hair.

She wiped her tears and looked at her husband whom she thought was the cause of this reunion.

But he just nodded his head sideways and ambed towards her.

As he reached her,he took out his phone and made a video call to someone. That someone attended the call swiftly and it turned out to be Samaira.
Praniti widened her eyes as realisation dawned within. Her best friend had did this for her.

"Hi Praniti! "Samaira said gleefully.

"Sa.. Sam... "she stuttered.

"How's my gift? "Samaira asked confidently. She was sure Praniti would want nothing else but her parents' presence during her pregnancy.

"I.. I don't know how to thank you Sam.You just.... You are my gem."Praniti sobbed again.

"Aaai. Why are you crying on this happy occasion? Did I beg more miserably than begger to your parents to see you cry? "Samaira raised her brows.

Praniti laughed between her tears and her parents hugged her from both her sides. They made Ayush stand with them.

"This is the only thing your Samaira demanded from us as a return gift of our reunion.A picture where all of us are together. "Praniti's mother told Praniti who was now staring at her friend through the phone's screen.

"This is how a happy family should be! May god bless you with happiness in abundance. I'm happy that I could make this work. Please remain like this. Your daughter needs you!"Samaira's eyes welled up as she uttered those words.
She smiled and asked her friend to enjoy the function before ending the call.

'Will something like this happen to me ever?"she sighed.

-----------

"Ayu..."Praniti called but none answered. She was sitting in the bedroom waiting for Ayush to take off all the decorations.

"Ayush!"

No answer.

"Ayush Hari Verma. "

No answer.

"You bear! "

"What's it pumpkin? "Ayush yelled from the living room, fed up of her tantrums.

"Come here. "she yelled back.

"No!"

"RIGHT NOW! "

"Ohkay. Hold on. "

Ayush entered the bedroom where his wife sat polishing her nails.

"What's the matter? "he asked.

"Please get me a glass of water. Pleejjjj... My husband. "

Ayush hit his head and fetched her a glass of water.

"Happy? Now let me do my work. "

"No.. Don't go. "

"Huh! What happened?"

"What if I would never be able to spend time with you? "

"Shut up! Praniti. You have been saying the same since long. Please tell me if something is troubling you. "

"I.. I.. just feel bad. I don't know how I should define the feeling. You promise me something."

"Ohkay what? "

"If something happens to me, you won't walk around like Kabir Singh. You should take care of our child. "

"Promise!"he said and kept his hand on hers which was extended towards him.

He cupped her face and planted a kiss on her forehead.

That was enough for her to forget all her worries. She closed her eyes, feeling warm, feeling complete.
