Samaira stood still. The door of the washroom was being banged constantly. 'His' voice was heard calling her name multiple times.Anger was evident in his voice and she wasn't able to decipher why.
She opened the door slowly and saw Ayush glaring at her. She decided to walk past him and took a few steps forward. But she was not able to move any further as she felt a strong grip on her arm.It tightened as she tried to free her hand.
"Samaira Ayush.... Look at me."his baritone boomed as she widened her eyes in shock.

She felt chills running down her spine. She felt as if she was thrown into a cyclone of turmoils. This was the largest shock she would ever get. She turned her face hesitantly to look at his. He looked furious yet there was a certain softness or rather concern in his eyes.

His face was calm and his anger vanished all of a sudden as he saw her   weak face. He never thought he'll have to see her like this one day. She did it all for him, his wife and his daughter and this is how she's being treated by others. And he was not even able to be with her at that moment, when something so bad was spoke about her. But was this gossip fit for her attention even? No. Not at all.

"You never used to give so much importance to what people say. "he uttered and she remained quiet.

"You say it's because Naveen left you. He wanted to break you and you let him do so? You were strong enough to go all yourself to an unknown place and work to finish off your debts. You were strong enough to marry your friend to look after his daughter and to fullfill a promise. Why are you weak now? "he asked as he left her hand.

"Because I've had enough of everything."

"That's never an excuse. You can never be tired of life. Everyone in this world have problems. But are everyone quitting? Committing suicide? No. You'll not do anything of that sort. I know. You're too strong to do so. You'll just have to gather up all of your strength together once again. That won't be easy so you have Kevin, Reyan, Prarthana, Jannat, your mother and... Me...to help you."

She looked at him and tried to read his eyes. They were soft, teared.

"And now, you're crying on a mere gossip. I know it's really painful to hear something so bad about yourself, but they are noone, bloody noone to break you down. They don't deserve your tears nor your attention. So stop crying on those cheap humans. Understand? "he asked and she nodded.

"Now that Naveen. Isn't it long enough to forget him? Isn't the way he treated you at the end of the day enough to do so? "he asked.

"I've forgotten him... But.. The aftereffects of his action... Are still there.. As fresh as ever. "she said as her whole self stiffened.

"They will be healed... Gradually... You'll just have to stop reminding yourself of your past. Start living a new life with new energy. "

"This is exactly what I want to tell you. "she said and his face hardened.

"I'm not asking you to forget anything. At least just sleep at night. Stop smoking without anyone's notice. "

"I will... If you do... "his voice trailed off and it was evident that he told so just to console her.

"The last thing I want to tell you is, you don't need a surname to be what you are. I don't like women changing their surnames after marriage. If you're still not sure what your surname is, let me remind you, it's Samaira Joseph. Even if husbands change, father won't.And now if you want to change it, let it be Samaira Ayush. Don't add Verma as I don't want to change your religion also.Don't even think of being Samaira Naveen. "

"I don't... want to change.. "she paused as she saw him smile.

She looked at him and he stared back. She knew she owe a lot to him for the new strength she just got.

"Thank you... for... "before she could talk, he interfered.

"Don't thank me.. It's nothing compared to what you did for me and Praniti. From uniting us to being a mother for our daughter, we owe you a lot. "

.................

"Dr. Samaira.. I'm so sorry for yesterday.."said Sara as she held Samaira's hands dramatically. Samaira had arrived at the hospital and was going to the doctor's room when this woman crossed her way.

"Dr. Sara.. I have a lot of jobs other than listening to some despos, who poke their butts into others business. They are equal to street dogs for me. So don't worry. I've not taken any of your words into consideration. So please excuse me, I have things to do. "Samaira smirked as Sara's face boiled with anger.

Sara slogged away as her muscles stiffened with anger.

Samaira turned around to see Ayush, smiling at her from a corner. She smiled back and went to perform a surgery.
