I'm terrified of letting
anyone in.
so I guess we have something

it's hard to tell.
you look like
you listen to pop music
in your car
on the way home.
and you look like you've
seen more of the world,
like you know it all.
you look like you could
save me, be a hero.
you look like you
would talk deep and
thoughtfully and make jokes
that make no sense.
and you look like you want
to go home already.
you look like you're afraid
of more than rain.
like you're afraid of German
and of Latin and of French.
like you love music,
but rhythms are hard.
you look like you hate people
and Wednesdays.
you look like you drink coffee
and eat too much pasta
especially on the weekends.
you look like you go to church
just because you love your Mom.
you look like you read too much,
and sleep too little.
you look like you don't go outside
and you stay inside watching
old films too often, and everyone
yells at you for it.
you look like you could use a hug
and a hand to hold.
you look like you hate parties
and love lemonade.
you look like you sing covers
and play guitar.
you look like you care too much
for people who don't care at all.
you look kind.
you look young.
you look perfect.
