『my best friend』

I never imagined
I would find my
other half.
Someone smart
and strong and
dignified and
positive.
she is my
best friend,
and she has
brightened me up.
she is supportive
and honest
and genuine.
she is the sun
when I can't find it.
she is the food
on the table
when I'm starving.
she completes me,
like no romantic
figure ever could.
she plays piano
for only a second
and the whole world
is silenced.
she laughs
and everyone admires
her for a while.
she sings and
I drop my jaw
due to pure amazement,
no matter how many
times I hear her voice.
she is so funny.
you can't even begin
to understand.
she can flip
my mood by just
saying something
to make me laugh.
she doesn't care
where we go
as long as we're
going there together.
and yes she
isn't perfect to you.
but who cares?
she's perfect to me.
when she has her
glasses on.
when she wears
contacts.
when she gives
me that look
that says
"What is wrong
with you?"
I just laugh.
I was given
the greatest person
possible.
the person who
gets my jokes
and knows
my ups and my downs.
the person who sits
next to me and makes
memories worth remembering.
the person who loves
poetry just as much as I do.
the person who inspires
me every single day
with her words and her
advice and her intelligence.
the person who pushes me
to be better every single day.
the person who reminds me
that it's okay to be
not okay sometimes.
the person who reminds me
to love myself when
the world won't.
the person who inspires
so many phrases and words.
the person who continues
the melodies of the years
and revives the lost harmonies.
this person
is my best friend.
and I wouldn't trade her for
a single thing.

hello! this was written for my best friend. she is so smart and wonderful and I just wanted her to know how much I love and appreciate her for everything she does for me. like reading my poetry and putting up with my annoyingness sometimes😂 I love her so much you can't even begin to understand :,)❤️
