Chapter 6: Little Thief

"Leo, are you happy?" the words left his lips in a whisper, he didn't even know why he asked his Pokémon that. But he found himself looking at the Grass Type a lot during N's speech. He didn't really want to capture Pokémon for the pokédex just scan them.

His eyes lit up when Leo nodded, "Vy!" he squeaked.

A warm smile formed on his lips and he scratched the Pokémon under his chin.

"Sni" Snivy let out a purr at the affection and melted into his hands, this only made the smile on Hilberts face even bigger.

"Well, Hilbert isn't it? Can I hear the voice of your Pokémon one more time in battle?" Hilbert turned around when he heard the voice of N close by. He stared into his green eyes again, N was a bit too close for his personal liking.

"Uh... ye... yeah" he stuttered, hit me already. Why did he stutter?

N gave him a warm smile and Hilberts cheeks began to warm up.

Hilbert shook his head and took a step away from the tea haired boy. "Yeah sure" his voice was stable again, thank Arceus.

"Leo, you ready?" he asked his starter. "Sni!" Leo squeaked and he jumped down from Hilbert's shoulder onto the stones of Accumula Town.

"Purrloin, I need your help!" N send out a feline Pokémon, it was purple with white and pink markings. It let out a loud purr and looked at Leo seductively.

Leo cringed and growled at the other Pokémon. The Purrloins face quickly changed into a scowl and growled loudly too.

"You ready?" N called from the other side.

"Ready as I'll ever be" Hilbert answered, I hope.

"Purrloin use scratch!" N commanded his Purrloin.

"Leo counter him with tackle!" Hilbert quickly said.

"Vy!" "Purr"

Purrloins claws began to extend and glowed white. Leo's tail also began to glow white and the two collided in the middle of their self made battle field.

Leo jumped and Purrloin pressed his glowing claws together to catch Leo's attack with them.

Leo's tail collided with Purrloin's claw and the both of them were shot back by the force of the blow. They quickly ran toward each other again and both Hilbert and N couldn't see their Pokémon in the heat of the fight. White claws and tails were trying to hit the other and they both moved so fast.

"Sni!" "Loin!"

Leo finally was finally able to hit the Purrloin with tackle but he quickly let out a painful cry when Purroin had managed to scratch him too.

They both got up again and stared each other down, both seizing the other opponent. "Leo use leer to lower his defense!" Hilbert asked his starter, "Purrloin counter it with growl!" N quickly said with a smirk on his lips.

Hilbert gritted his teeth, dammit.

Leo narrowed his eyes and gave the opponent a death glare, Purrloin flinched and quickly let out a loud growl that made Leo flinch too.

"I guess we'll go for tackle again then" Hilbert said to his starter, Leo nodded and his tail begun to glow white again. This time Hilbert noticed something, the streets of Accumula Town were littered with sand and dirt. The streets weren't cleaned that often, something that would give Hilbert and Leo an advantage.

"Wait hold on Leo" Hilbert whispered as he heard N ask his Purrloin to use scratch again.

Leo turned around with his still glowing tail and looked at him with a tilted head.
