lydia's pov

Somehow, nothing could beat the feeling of hearing Tenya say over the phone, "My wife and I." Regardless of what he was saying, it gave me the feeling of butterflies flapping their iridescent wings. I felt so special; like I was truly this piece of his life that couldn't be replaced. I was his wife. The feeling of knowing that we were devoted to one another was like no other.

We didn't have a honeymoon, seeing as we couldn't really afford one after how much the wedding cost. Having two days off of work was the closest we could have to one, and that didn't bother me all too much.

He sat at the couch, typing at his computer as he often did. I went up behind him, wrapping my arms around his shoulder, leaning down and kissing his jawline. "How are you baby?" I ask.

He sighs. "I'm good. What about you star?"

I smile, removing my arms to place my hands on his shoulders, rubbing small circles. He's tense and I don't know why, but I'll do my best to relax him. "I'm good." I pause. "We should get a Christmas tree today," I mention.

He hums. "It's gonna be Christmas before we even know it Star," he mumbles, still typing on his computer.

Leaning down to kiss his cheek I whisper, "Let's go and get one baby."

He nods. "We can get one right now, just lemme finish this and get ready okay?"

A smile spreads on my lips and I nod, running off to our room and changing. I put on a comfy floral dress and leggings. I throw on a matching jacket, grab my purse and am out of the room.

Tenya closes his computer. "Ready?" he asks. I nod and wrap my hand around his. "You look pretty," he tells me.

I chuckle. "Thank you. You look cute too," I compliment. It's true too, his black turtle neck suits him well. We walk down to the bus stop, the first time since we got married. "This is our bus stop," I say.

"We met here."

I smile at the ground. "Yeah, we did."

His grip on my hand tightens and then releases. "One day we're going to live somewhere else and not see this bus stop all the time. Kinda makes me sad."

I don't say anything, just look at the ground. "When are we going to get a new house?" I ask.

Tenya shrugs. "When we have two-hundred thousand dollars saved up."

My eyes go wide. "That much?"

A sigh escapes his lips. "Yeah. I mean an average house in San Fransisco will be around one million, we need to put down twenty percent of that, which is two-hundred thousand. Not to mention mortgage and all that. It's gonna take a lot," he says, almost defeated.

"How much money do we have?" I ask.

"Personally I have somewhere around one-hundred-twenty thousand saved up. I don't know about you, though."

I think about it. To be completely honest, I don't have a lot of money saved up. "I probably only have five thousand dollars tops," I mumble. I have nothing compared to Tenya.

"Have you ever thought about going back to school?" He asks.

I nod. "Yeah but it's expensive and it always seemed like a lot of work for something I might hate later on," I explain.

"I think it would be beneficial to be a veterinary instead of an assistant. Of course, you don't have to do anything you don't want to, don't ever feel pressure from me. I have more than enough money to cover us."
