Alexis' POV

-

"Look, we're as much as in the dark as you guys are. So, don't blame us - we had no idea about this past life Samantha's been trying to get rid of," the blonde-haired girl named Savannah said in defense as she pushed Samantha's hair away from her face.

After her fainting spell, we propped Samantha under a tree with enough shade. Initially, we were all crowding her but then realized that that wasn't the best thing to do. Therefore, Liam was off to the side in case something went wrong, the taller blonde named Courtney was on her phone in the distance, and Cameron was smoking yet another cigarette. That left Savannah and I to tend to the unconscious brunette.

"You didn't even have a notion of where she came from?" I asked as I stared down at Samantha's beautiful face. Her breathing was deep and even, and upon initial viewing, I thought she was sleeping peacefully as her eyes traveled softly under her eyelids.

Except, that wasn't the case, and in fact she was unconscious from all the sudden drama we brought back into her life. Should I have even come here? Were answers what I needed? Or was I just longing to be with Samantha again...

But if what she said was true, and by all means, I knew it was true (except the whole Joshua thing I have no fucking clue) then it was right for Samantha to leave all along.

But without even saying goodbye? Was I that insignificant?

"No, and we had no reason to," she paused and caressed her soft cheek, which made my heart clench just because I wanted to be close to her as well. "Samantha is so innocent, for fuck's sake we literally just convinced her to start going out with us to drink. Plus, if we even mentioned the word sex, she always just clams right up. Now, to hide a whole secret life? That just doesn't sound like her."

I shook my head, remembering all those times we made her drink copious amounts of alcohol. Or the time when I found out about her and Isabelle, and even with Cameron... I sighed, just realizing all the sexual trauma this girl has gone through in just a span of under a year.

"Welp, she was with us two years ago. She was my best friend," the blue-eyed girl gave me a strange look.

"Best friend only? Pfft, with that performance earlier, I thought you her crazy ex-girlfriend or whatever." She laughed and then we both stiffened when Samantha started to mumble something in her sleep.

"C-chickens...hi..." she mumbled and I couldn't help but laugh with the blonde right next to me. The dirty side to me couldn't help but wonder if she still wore those cute chicken panties...

I continued back to our conversation, "No, we were just best friends." I pushed back the thought that before she left, there was an opportunity to become so much more. "Now, her, she's her ex-girlfriend." I pointed over to Cameron, who was smoking a cigarette with Liam again. I made a mental note to help her kick that addiction of hers.

Savannah scrunched her nose up and looked at Cameron, "Fuck, Samantha dated that psycho?"

I nodded, "Yup, but she's good now...I mean, Cameron is something else, but she's okay to be around Samantha now."

Savannah raised an eyebrow, "Does Samantha know that?" I blinked after she asked that, then remembered that technically Samantha didn't stay long enough to know that Cameron sought help. I mean, there were still a lot of things she didn't know about after she left. Did she know that Jason and Isabelle were hard workers now? That Alex was traveling the world away from Los Angeles? That Cameron was seeking mental health? That Jordan was across the country pursuing a mathematics degree?

Did she know that when she left, things just weren't the same?

"I don't think so..." I murmured.
