Caleb's P.O.V.
I woke up to a phone call early this morning at 3 am. It was from Josh. He told me that I needed to hop on the next train to a small town in North Dakota that houses our headquarters. I wasn't ready to leave, but I had no choice. I quietly packed my things, wrote a small note in the kitchen for the family then left for the train station. I didn't want to worry my family any more than I had to, especially the Holden's. They didn't know why I was leaving except for that it was a football thing through Josh that the coaches couldn't be involved in. The train arrived soon after I got there then began my 5-hour journey to headquarters.
Once the train arrived at the station in Fargo, Jennifer Summers, Tyler's Aunt, was there waiting to pick me up.
"Hey, Caleb. Long time no see," she said. She was tall with long dirty blonde curls and bright green eyes.
"Hey, Jennifer. Do I at least get to go home and rest?"
She laughed. "I think you already know the answer to that. You have just enough time to get there. I can take your stuff home and put it in your room while you're there."
"Okay, that sounds good to me," I said then we got in her car and drove over to headquarters.
After arriving, I went in and Tyler was already waiting at the door ready to greet me.
"Caleb, it's nice to see you again," he said.
"Nice to see you too, Tyler."
"Come to my office for a moment so we can talk," he said then we walked through the doors and down the long hallway before turning left and into a small room with a desk and some chairs.
"So, what's the plan," I asked.
"Well, for starters I didn't want you to come here but if I ignored Josh's insisting any longer he would have known something was up. But for now, while you're here, I'm going to try to protect you for as long as possible as I promised your dad."
"What will happen if they find out?"
"If they find out you're his son then you will automatically fill the role of being my second. As of right now, I don't have one so it won't seem that suspicious to anyone."
"And if I don't want to be your second?"
"Why wouldn't you? There is more to this job then you could ever imagine. It's been both a blessing and a curse in my life."
"I just want to go home and be with Maddie. I don't want to be here and I have no intention of taking over your gang or helping you run it. Just because my father was going to help you doesn't mean I will."
He slammed his hands on the desk. "You will help me and do as I say if you ever want to see that girl again. I'm sure by the time you get home she will have moved on from you and I'm sure that you will find someone else while you're here."
I just stared at him. It wouldn't be wise to argue with him, especially since he had more power than I did. "When do I start with Jesse?"
"Now," he said then stood up and started walking towards the door. "Follow me and I'll take you to him."
I stood up and followed him. We went out of the office and back down the hallway going through one of the brown doors on the left in the middle of the hallway. The room was rather large with a small boxing ring, a few desks and large tables and some medium sized wardrobes.
"This building used to be a boxing gym before we bought it. Jesse wanted to keep the ring in his room in case anyone wanted to give it a shot," Tyler said.
