Battle Fences

Gemma

     I remembered passing out.  But then that was it. I heard a strange noise. I must've been coming to.  It sounded like... A heart monitor? How did I get medical attention. I opened my eyes and I saw a bright white ceiling.  I look to my left and Isaac is asleep in a chair. 

     " I...Isaac? " I managed to say. 

He snapped open his eyes and looked at me.

" Gemma! I thought I lost you. "

" Just for a little bit. How did I get here? "

" I...uh... climbed the fence and brought you here. Well not me but Benny. I got your dad. "

     " You brought my dad! Why would you... ahh."

I felt a sharp pain in my side. 

"Easy, easy. I had to. I thought it was the right thing to do. "

" But..."

" Hey, it's okay. He kinda likes me now."

     " Ha, really? "

" Yeah.  I guess that me loving you kinda changed his mind. "

" You love me? "

" Well, yeah. Do you love me? "

" You don't have to ask. "

     He leaned over and kissed me passionately.  When the need for air became overwhelming we broke hold.

" Gemma?"

" Dad? "

" I'll give you two some time." Isaac said.

He walked out and my dad sat down in a chair.

     " That's one special guy you have there."

" Thanks dad."

" Gemma,  I want to apologize for the other day.  I just never realized how much you remind me of your mother. "

" Dad I know that you just want what's best.  But you went a little crazy."

     " I know and I'm sorry. And I support your decision to see this boy. "

" Really?! Thank you."

I hugged my father for the first time in a while.

" Can you tell Isaac to come back in?"

" Sure."

     My dad opened the door and Isaac walked in. 

"So what now?" I asked

"Well, our father's made peace. War is over."

" Are you serious? "

" Yeah they signed a peace treaty not too long ago. "

" Isaac that's great! We don't have to sneak around anymore! We can finally be together. "

     " And not worry about who sees us." He added.
