You sighed in relief as you fell back on to your king-sized bed. You had just finished dinner after having spent all afternoon touring the manor. Your mother had already picked out drapes, rugs, paintings, the works really. Though you didn't really approve of having house elves, they definitely were quick to make your home look beautifully set up and welcoming. It still hadn't settled in your mind that this would be your home for the rest of the summer until it was time for you to leave for Hogwarts.

You rolled over and glanced around your room. Your mother had a deep love for interior designing but was known for going a little over the top. Luckily, she held back a little when decorating your room giving you the chance to customize it more to your liking. She did, however, have your TV ready and hung up on the wall opposite of your bed. You smiled.

Though you loved being outdoors where you could hear running water and feel the breeze, when indoors, your guilty pleasure was watching no-maj movies. Most of your friends in America weren't fans or just simply disapproved of anything no-maj related.  You couldn't help your love for no-maj things thanks to your father who enjoyed watching movies with you in his spare time. Mother wasn't crazed about blood status nor did she hate no-majs, but she was always hesitant and could never immerse herself in the no-maj world like you and Father could.

You turned the TV on for some background noise as you made your way over to your walk-in closet.

"I'm glad you both seem to love our new home," Father had said to both you and your mother as you walked down a corridor together.
"I have acquaintances from work and a few local families coming over tomorrow for dinner. Sort of like a house warming party. (Y/n), I expect you to be on your best behavior and actually accept a dance with someone. No sneaking off to hide in the garden."

You rolled your eyes as you remembered your father's words. It's not that you didn't enjoy parties. In fact, you very much enjoyed them especially when alcohol was involved and the right dance music was playing. You just hated having to act proper and accepting dances with men who were too old or boys who clearly wanted to do more than place their hands on your rear as you danced.

Figuring you wouldn't have much time tomorrow to purchase a new dress, you would just wear one you already had. After all, this would be your first time meeting any of these people so you didn't have to worry about being caught wearing an old dress by one of the snotty pure-blood daughters who always seemed to keep tabs on your outfits. You looked through your dresses that were already hung up and sorted by color and length before selecting a lilac high-low dress:
