𝐟𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐝𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩 𝐝𝐚𝐭𝐞

Hyekyung went to NCT's practice room, expecting to see Jaemin there. She knocked on the door before opening it.

"Hello!!" She flinched when someone shouted and popped out from behind the door.

"Kyungie~" Jaemin run towards the door, already staring at her with his usual love eyes and push Haechan away from the door.

"Can I take you out today? I don't think I'll be able to make it to your birthday tomorrow." Hyekyung said and Jaemin pouted before smiling softly and nodding.

"It's okay, you're busy anyway. Do we go now?" Jaemin asked and she nodded. Jaemin runs to his bag, getting those what is only necessary.

They both exited the building, not caring if they get attention or not of being idols.

"Where are we going?" Jaemin asked her the second they stepped out of the building. Hyekyung chuckled and looked at him.

"Where do you want to go? It's your birthday so, I figured there would be places you want to go to." Hyekyung replied, putting her phone in her purse and Jaemin pouted.

"Han River? I just want to relax a bit since our comeback is also coming up." Hyekyung nodded and they walk to the Han River, chatting on their way there.

"You know, it's actually been a while since the last time we went out." Hyekyung said and Jaemin nodded.

"With our busy schedules... I'm part of NCT DREAM, you're a rising soloist and one of the best out there.. it's difficult to see each other now." Jaemin said and Hyekyung sighed.

"Don't you realize that every interaction we make in public and us being too close stirs up some articles?" Hyekyung asked, smiling and Jaemin laughed, remembering that he just read a few ones the day before.

"Yes, even though there's nothing between us, we still get that kind of articles," Jaemin said and Hyekyung just laughed.

"Can't a boy and girl just be close friends?"

Jaemin sits on the blanket they placed on the grass before lying down, closing his eyes and take a deep breath.

"This feels good..." Jaemin said, making Hyekyung chuckle. She pulls out the ice cream from the plastic bag which they just bought in the near 7/11.

She opens the ice cream and looks at Jaemin. Jaemin opens his eyes and looks at her. He immediately got the hint and sit up, taking a bite of her ice cream.

"It's surprisingly good," Jaemin said and Hyekyung laughed, taking a bite of her own. Jaemin grabs the 7/11 plastic and takes a mochi ice cream.

He opened it and let Hyekyung taste it first before tasting it himself. The two eat their snacks, catching up with current activities and future activities.

"I feel so lucky right now." Jaemin let her take the last bite before laying his head on her lap. Hyekyung smiles, swallowing the mochi ice cream before she starts to play with Jaemin's hair.

Jaemin closes his eyes, feeling relaxed, safe and comfortable from Hyekyung's touch.

"Why?" Hyekyung softly asked. Jaemin smiled and lifted his hand, holding Hyekyung's other hand.

"Because I have you in my life. You're the best, Kyung." Jaemin said softly and Hyekyung smiled. She kissed his forehead before going back to playing with his hair.

"You're the best too, Nana." She said and Jaemin just smiled before falling asleep with his head on her lap, feeling so safe with her.

Hyekyung caresses his hair, watching people pass by with their families and friends, maybe even lovers.

The breeze was perfect. She stares at Jaemin, thinking about his birthday which will be tomorrow. The soft smile left her face as she just continues staring at the napping Jaemin.

She leans closer to his face. Her eyes landing on his lips before at his eyes again then she starts to study his face features.

"Maybe... in another world.... we'll fall in love with each other," Hyekyung said, almost in a whisper as she pulls back.

Jaemin heard her. He heard what she said. He was just falling asleep but as soon as she said that, he couldn't forget about it.

Questions start to form in his head.

Does she like him? Does she not? Does she really only see him as a best friend? Does Jaemin feel the same?

Countless questions running around his head.

"Let's just focus on the present." She said and that stopped the questions in Jaemin's head. His grip on her hand became tighter as Hyekyung stares at him.

Jaemin slowly opens his eyes. Hyekyung smiles, hoping he didn't hear what she said but Jaemin doesn't want their friendship to break so, he just decided to not tell.

"You should rest too, you know," Jaemin said softly but Hyekyung just chuckled.

"You're the birthday boy. You should be the one resting." Hyekyung said but Jaemin just kissed the back of her palm.

"Kyung... I've always wondered..." Jaemin said, staring at her with his love eyes once again.

"Hm?"

"Do you think we're too close to be friends? Like, do other opposite gender friends like us too?" Jaemin asked, curious about what she also thinks.

"Now that you said it, we are too close to be just close friends but I just like to treasure this time. We're both idols, we're both busy.. there will be a time where we won't even be able to talk for months.

That's why, no matter how close we are, I don't want to stop doing what we are doing and lose what we have." Hyekyung said with her soft voice that Jaemin has always loved.

"You have a point... I agree too. You're too important for me to lose." He said and she chuckled.

She leaned closer to him, connecting their foreheads and they both just chuckled

"Don't leave me, okay?"

"Why would I ever leave you?"
