( X3 I have no regrets with the picture choice. XD )
Ava Emoora had never (at least not to anyone who knew her's knowledge) spoken a single word. She could make noises but they were always quiet and calm. The truth was that she could talk, and did when she was completely alone, but refused to talk to other people.
East Flixia was just a very mysterious and intricate person underneath her surface. And Japan kept that in mind as he fell in love with her.
Kiku had tried to find a way to be in a relationship with her for quite some time before just caving in and admitting his feelings to Ava. The silent woman and given him a smile and gently tapped over her heart with her hand before pressing the same hand over Kiku's heart, showing that she felt the same.
At first both of them had been tense and awkward in their relationship. It was a bit difficult since Japan was tense with physical contact and East Flixia never said a word.
The other countries began to make bets at how long they thought the pair would stay together but after three months they moved in together and one month more they'd become completely in tune to each other.
That was two years ago. Today Ava was quietly sitting in Kiku's backyard, perched on one of his Sakura tree's branches. She and her sisters had just gotten into a gruesome, though thankfully short, fight.
Ava had immediately went to Sweden (one of her closest friends) afterwards to get patched up and calm herself before heading back home. Instead of going inside she just went into the backyard and climbed into the tree.
A noise pulled her from her thoughts as the back door opened and Kiku quietly came out with a manga book. Ava made a small, though noticeable cooing noise as he got closer to the tree.
After the time they'd spent together Kiku had picked up on her certain noises.
His dark brown eyes raised and met hers. His eyes widened a tad at the sight of the damage done to her but with a sigh he just shook his head and beckoned her down.
Ava landed with a soft thump on the ground beside him as he sat down and sat down beside him. The Japanese man carefully reached out and pulled her head and torso to lay in his lap as he started to read.
"Was it you're sisters again?" He received an animal-like grumble as an answer.
He chuckled softly and pet her hair with one hand.
Kiku had loosened up about touching her throughout the past two years. He still liked his personal space when it came to others but he came to really enjoy being so close to Ava.
As time passed and the sun set, Ava managed to fall asleep and Kiku gently carried her inside and placed her in bed, lying down to join her in sleep.
*TIMESKIP: 2 DAYS*
East Flixia and Japan were over at Germany's house for training (like the Axis still did together despite being at peace). Unfortunately that also meant that West Flixia was there too. Ava really did love her older twin sister Leah, but it was her and Leah that were fighting this time.
Leah kept giving Ava snarky comments and wicked glares and, as was normal when the two were fighting Ava would glare and growl back.
Finally the aggression between the two peaked.
"You know I'm surprised that Kiku's still with you. You never even speak a word to him. We all know you're not really mute, just don't want to talk." Leah snorted, glaring at her sister. "You don't love him enough to tell him that you do."
The last sentence really struck Ava. She growled low in her throat and swelled venomously. With a quick, violent motion Leah was sent sprawling on the ground with three, deep scratch marks on her cheek.
Leah looked up with a glare that faltered as soon as she saw her sister. Ava's harsh glare was now tainted with tears and the clear pain in her eyes.
The look made Leah regret what she said more than the scratches did.
Without a single word still Ava whirled around and bolted.
Leah slowly sat up, holding her cheek and frown at the ground with an expression between sad and guilty.
Kiku ran after Ava and Ludwig kneeled next to Leah to check on her.
Kiku made it back to his house in record time (20 minutes) but with her insane speed Ava had still been there by herself for several minutes.
The Japanese man immediately began calling and searching for her. He found her shut in their shared closet.
"Ava..." He trailed off sadly, offering her a hug.
She sniffled and accepted, nuzzling her damp face into his chest.
"I know that what she said was a lie." He murmured, stroking her shoulder-length black hair. "I know that you love me as much as you possibly can. Which you've proven to be a lot."
He then softly pushed her back so that he could meet her face.
"You don't need to tell me something that I already know." He smiled, kissing her forehead.
Ava's icy blue eyes stared in his own dark brown ones and she opened her mouth.
This time, instead of an animalistic noise or a yawn or just mouthing something, she spoke.
"But it still shouldn't be so hard for me to talk. At least to you." Her voice was quiet and soft, like Sakura leaves drifting to the ground in a calm breeze.
Kiku stared at her speechless.
"I know that in your culture it's very uncommon to verbally say that you love someone but you've said it to me and I've never once said it back." She sighed and looked away. "I've gotten so used to keeping my voice to myself that I became too afraid to use it around others."
"It's okay, Ava. I don't really care about that, and if you don't want to you don't have to talk around me." Kiku said, cupping her face in his hands and resting his forehead on hers. "I love you no matter what."
"I love you too." She replied breathily. "And I think I'll start talking around you. I like being able to finally say what I've left unspoken for so long."
She grinned and pressed a quick kiss to his lips.
"I love you." She whispered.
