Wendy was sitting at the dining room table of her house. It was currently midnight but she couldn't sleep. All the lights were off in the house and everything was quiet, yet sleep still eluded her.
A yawn rippled through her as she rubbed her face in her hands.
The bags under her eyes were dark and heavy, making her eyes bloodshot.
It had been weeks since she'd slept more than a strained hour or two. She was starting to look sickly and her dearest friend and boyfriend Oliver had started to get worried.
So like any logical person would do to keep someone from worrying, she hid herself away in her house and avoided everyone that she knew.
Another yawn came and Wendy rested her head down on her folded arms, that she'd placed on the table.
Suddenly there was the sound of the front door opening and someone coming inside. They were muttering to themselves in a very familiar voice as they shut and relocked the door behind them and started making their way upstairs.
She heard him enter her bedroom and then start to panic when he didn't find her there.
Oliver came running back down the stairs, calling out her name frantically.
She gave a grunt in response, not moving from her position.
She could hear him stop running around and come into the dinning room/kitchen. Her back was to the door so she couldn't see him as he approached her.
"Poppet? What's going on why have you been avoiding me lately?" He asked, still behind her.
She turned her head sideways on her arms and opened an eye to see him. She didn't say anything though.
His thick eyebrows furrowed and he came closer to see her a little better.
"Poppet, what's wrong?" He asked, gently stroking her hair out of her face with a hand.
"Haven't been able to sleep more than little in weeks." She mumbled, actually glad now that he was there, his presence alone soothed her.
Oliver gasped and muttered something under his breath. Then he moved forward and carefully scooped her up into his arms.
"That can't do. I'll try to help you sleep, kay Poppet?" He made it clear that it wasn't really a question as he brought her into her bedroom and carefully tucked her into bed.
Wendy grunted.
"If you really wanna help just lay here and cuddle with me." She said.
With a smile Oliver stripped down to his boxers and joined her in bed.
Wendy murmured in happiness and wasted no time in nuzzling into his chest. He smiled softly and pulled her closer to him.
"Try to get some sleep, okay?" His response was a soft snore from her.
He chuckled and kissed her hair line.
"Good night Poppet, I love you." He murmured gently.
"Mng. Love....Oliver....too." Even in her sleep Wendy still replied.
Oliver chuckled and settled down, allowing himself to join her in the realm
