Chapter 4

I jerked myself forward and looked around. Two-Bit had gone home already and I didn't think Ponyboy's brothers had come home yet. I looked out the window. It was my dad, he looked drunk. I stood up and walked over to the door. I knew I was dumb for not getting help or even going to the door. I opened it and immediately felt a hand grab my neck in a strangling position. I barely managed to push his hand away. As soon as I could I stepped back and yelled for Ponyboy. He came out of his room and ran over to the door, "Get away from her!" He yelled pushing my dad away from the door. My dad lurched at him shoving Ponyboy to the ground and grabbing my arm real tight. He pulled me outta the house and tried pushing me into his car before Ponyboy ran back over pulling my dad's arms off me. "Hey! I said leave 'er alone!" He yelled, still prying my dad's arms off. Once again Ponyboy was shoved to the ground but this time was being kicked in the gut. I threw myself to the ground in front of him and blocked all the kicks, I couldn't stand seeing Pony beaten because of me. "Dad! Stop it! Stop it, leave him alone!!" I yelled as I covered my face with my arms and took the beating. I saw a car pull up, my dad got scared and ran back to his car and drove off. Darry got out of his car and ran over to us, "Ponyboy?! Y/N!? What happened??" We looked at eachother. We were both beaten badly and both bleeding. Darry asked for an explanation once again and we gave him one. We all went inside and Darry fixed us up. "I've gotta go home." I stood up and headed for the door. "Y/N you can't, after what just happened! You're gonna get hurt if you go home." Pony said. I shrugged, "Yeah well I've gotta go home at some point. And I've dealt with this for 15 years, I'll be fine." I fake smiled and left before they could stop me.
