Once I got home I braced myself for any surprise punches. I walked in, looked around and my father was nowhere to be seen. I looked out the window. The car wasn't there, he wasn't home. I slowly walked over to the phone on the wall and called the Curtis's. After what seemed like forever someone picked up, "hello?" they asked. "H-hello? Who is this?" It took a minute for them to reply, "It's Ponyboy, Y/N is that you?" I looked around, expecting my dad to come home at any moment. "Y-yeah it's me, uh I'm home now but I don't know where my dad is and.. And I'm scared he went off to do somethin' or get something." I stuttered. "What do you mean, Y/N what is he gonna do?" He asked. "I dunno Ponyboy! Last time he disappeared like this he bought a gun!!" I yelled. "He bought a gun?!" Ponyboy yelled, I heard someone else take the phone, I assumed it was Darry. "Y/N where are you?" I saw a car pull in the driveway. My heart was pounding. "I-I'm at home..I've gotta go." The phone began to break up. "M-my dad is home." I hung up the phone with my finger and left it hanging off the wall. I ran upstairs to my room and hid. I peeked out the window, I saw my dad get out of his car with something in his hand that looked like a gun. I began to shake and cry. He kicked the door open and walked in. It was almost completely silent in the house other than my dad stomping up the stairs. I covered my mouth with my hand and sat there scared to death. I looked down and all of the sudden saw my dad push my door open and step in. I sat as still and quiet as possible but he still saw me. He walked over and grabbed me by the neck pulling me up to my feet and pushing me into the hallway in front of the stairs. He let go of me and pushed me down the stairs. I curled into a ball and got up as soon as I got to the bottom of the stairs.
