It was probably about 4am when multiple officers were yelling for everyone to get up. "Everyone line up against the walls!!" They yelled as they opened the cells. I stood up against the wall next to Ponyboy. We were all tired and confused. A bus pulled up in front of the station, the officers were making us go on it one by one. Once it was Ponyboy's turn, he got on and sat on an empty bench, as I was about to step on one of the police officers stopped me. "Go back to the cell kid." I looked up at him. I knew I needed to talk to get outta this one, or atleast get Ponyboy to stay too. "N-no.." I barely managed to get it out of my mouth. "Huh? What'd you say to me?" I looked at Ponyboy and back at the cop, "I-I'm no goin' w-without him." I said as I pointed to Ponyboy. The cop started to push me, "That's too bad, he's already on and you're holding up the line now go." He said with a stern tone. I still refused to budge. I could tell the cop was getting angry with me, he picked me up and carried me to the cell as I screamed for him to put me down, but he didn't, not until we were in the cell. "What about his brothers?! Where is the bus taking him?!" I yelled. "Don't worry about it." he said as he crossed his arms and began to walk away. I couldn't stand not knowing where Ponyboy was going. And it was all my fault. I ran out of the cell back up to the bus, I ran in before the cop could catch me and grabbed Ponyboy's hand. "Hurry up!" I said as we ran out and past the bus all the way to the Curtis house.
