"Wake the fuck up!" Your hearing was bombarded by the booming voice of your mother, who threw a plastic bottle at your head. It bounced off your head, slightly hurting it, but nothing serious. You dragged yourself up as your mother tapped her foot.
"Don't keep us waiting for breakfast." She warned, stepping inside. You yawned as she did so, getting up. You looked to your feet to see what she threw. A bottle of vanilla extract. Probably to flavor their drinks.
You walked into the kitchen, seeing your parents not in their. Noting that, you got to work, cooking bacon and eggs for your parents as coffee brewed in the pot. Flipping the eggs over to help cook the yolk and give it that seared look your parents preferred, you quickly got yourself a cup of coffee, chugging it, before setting the mug aside to use as your father's.
Soon enough, breakfast sat on the table, and you ran off for school, not waiting for your parents to come down.
Doop de doo, hours pass, you eat an apple pie for lunch, mostly unharmed due to delivery by drop instead of the usual Yeet Service.
More hours pass, and you're at the end of your last hour, hearing the bell ring. Instead of just groaning at what was to come like you dd the past week, you stayed silent, walking to your locker to drop some things off. As you entered the combination, you noted the messy state of your locker. Should probably clean it some day.
Slamming the locker shut, you moved with the quickly diminishing crowd of students, which was reduced to a few groups by the time you entered the lecture hall, to be greeted with... well, 'surprise' was an understatement. Ivy was at the table, going over something with pen. You walked up to the table, looking at the poster.
Ivy was going over the outline of the body, fixing some things, like the oversized hand and the misshapen leg. As you stared, Ivy spied your shadow and looked up at you.
"You messed up some things, and I'm fixing them. Your handwritings pretty neat, and the facts are correct, so I'm not doing anything to them." She stated, as if she had done anything else. You only nodded.
"Alright." And with that, you sat down across from her, continuing the writing you were doing yesterday. Now Ivy was coming close to freaking you out. In the span of a week, she went from bully to tolerator, which you weren't sure was an actual word, to helping you with your project. Did you knock a few screws loose when you punched her?
After about 10 minutes, Ivy sighed, and put down her pen, pulling out her phone. You payed it no mind as she started tapping away. You continued writing, and reached across the table to find your note sheet that you wrote facts down on, dragging it to you. As you inspected the writing, you felt something wet under your finger, and lifted it to investigate.
A circle of moisture rested on the sheet. Looking closer, there were more. Three- no, five dots on the paper. Confused, you looked across the table at the paper's near Ivy. As you looked, another drop of water fell onto the table. You looked up at Ivy, mouth open in bewilderment.
Tears streamed down her face, one by one as she stared at her phone. At first, you thought she was looking at something sad, until you noted the fact that her phone was dark. She hadn't even turned it on.
"Hey." You quietly called out. Ivy looked from her phone to you.
"You Okay?" You asked, putting your pencil down. Ivy nodded, looking back to her phone. You looked down, at your paper, with no idea what to do.
"Yesterday... did you mean it?" You looked up at Ivy, slightly confused.
"About me being...scared of you?" You asked. Ivy nodded. You looked down again, unsure of how to answer.
"...yes. You scare me." When Ivy didn't respond, you continued.
"I... always feel like I have to be on guard when you approach. You... you throw things at me, and every interaction we've had has ended badly for me." You swallowed, watching Ivy close her eyes, as another tear slipped out.
"...You... never really treated me as... as an equal. I feel our relationship is... more that of.... predator and prey." You finished, blinking and sliding your chair away. Ivy sighed, burying her face in her hands.
"I see." She stated.
"I see." You nervously waited for something to happen.
"You never seemed to be one to lie. Never have." Ivy continued. You stared at her.
"So, when I woke up in the life skills room, seeing your note..." her voice cracked. You knew what was coming.
"I... I wondered to myself, 'how could I be able to deal so much damage to someone? I never tried to make you bleed. Yeah, I hurt you, but I never aimed to injure.'" You but your lip, remembering the lie you told last week.
"Then, I go and look back at what I did to you, and I can't help but think, 'maybe he's right. Maybe that's all I am.' That... hurt me, you know." Ivy looked at you, tears in her eyes.
"Do you know how it feels when you find out that you're hurting people more than you thought you were?" You knit your eyebrows as Ivy sighs to herself.
"Of course you wouldn't. Because you were on the receiving end, huh?" Ivy squeezed her eyes shut, before taking a deep breath, wiping at her eyes to dry the tears, and staring you straight in the face.
"What... what I'm trying to say is... is..." Ivy sighs and hits her head on the table.
"I'm... I'm sorry. I'm sorry, Y/n. I'm sorry for what I did to you. I'm sorry for not realizing what I was actually doing to you." Your breath hitched at this. You were kinda expecting something like this, but to come out so blunt caught you off guard. Eventually, you worked up the courage to reply.
"I..." Ivy tensed up.
"I hated you for weeks, Ivy." You could see her almost shrink from those words.
"But... when I ran out, and you chased me, and I eventually told you the truth, I really couldn't find it in me to hate you anymore. I forgave you since last week, despite what seemed logical." You saw Ivy's shoulders rock, and figured why she was doing. You sat in silence, and let her cry, despite potential damage to the papers that held your notes.
After a few minutes, Ivy eventually calmed down, and looked up at you, her eyes red and puffy.
"I'm... sorry you had to see that." She chuckled to herself, wiping her eyes again.
"Just... forget you saw that, and we'll get back to work, Okay?" She suggested. You nodded, grabbing your pencil again.
"Yeah. Let's do that."
