"I'll pick you up at 6, okay?" Dally said over the phone. It was prom night and we were sorting our arrangements.

"Fine by me." I said excitedly.

"See you then babe. Look gorgeous as usual." And then he hung up before I could say 'I never do, but I'll try.'

My dress was hanging up on the back of my door, the more I saw it the more beautiful it got. I knew how I was having my hair, in a loose bun with bits pulled down at the front and a light blue bow clipped in.

I walked over to my dressing table, it was 4.30. An hour and a half to get ready. Great. I pulled out my hairspray, bobbles and grips and got started on my hair. It took a fair few attempts to get it right, but eventually I did it.

Makeup next. I put on a layer of foundation and put on some powder to make anything else I added stand out. I then put on some blusher, mascara, eyeliner and pale pink lip gloss.

It was 5.30 when I had my hair and makeup done. I walked over to my dress, admired it and then changed into it. It fit just perfectly. But then I remembered, I had no shoes.

I ran through to my mums room and looked at a her shoes. There weren't many, well to be exact there were 3 pairs. One pair was perfect. They were light blue with lace around the main part if the shoe and they were heeled. Mum wasn't in so I couldn't ask, meaning I just took them. She was used to it by now.

I was so excited now, but I was also nervous. I only had 15 minutes to wait and I was praying Dally would be early. Thankfully he was, he arrived at 5.50. He was wearing a black suit with a blue tie, that matched my dress. Where on earth did he get that from? "Wow!" He exclaimed as I opened the door, he looked shellshocked, "I didn't think you could look anymore perfect then you usually do!"

"I never look perfect Dal." I giggled as I stepped out the house and shut the door behind me.

"We are not having this conversation again." He said as we walked to Buck's truck.

"Fine. Fine." I said sitting down.

Dally got in the car and started driving. "You know I never went to my prom." He told me.

"Well you never told me, but I'd guessed." I replied.

"How did you guess?" He asked shocked, "Am I that predictable?"

"Yes you are." I laughed. "No, it's because you're Dally. You don't seem like the kind of guy that would go to prom. Plus it's a Soc thing. You rarely get Greaser's that do."

"Spot on!" I yelled, still shocked. "You know me so well!"

"What and you barely know me?" I said raising the sarcasm in my voice.

"Shut up." He said, lightly hitting me on my leg.

Before I knew it we were at school. They had done up the hall with banners and balloons to make it look nicer than usual. They had a buffet at the side with more food and drinks than you can imagine. We were one of the first to arrive. The music was already playing.

We walked over to Ponyboy, Emmalie, Johnny and Payton as they came in. Emmalie looked stunning, so did Payton. Payton had come in a dress. She said she had borrowed her sisters. It was a gorgeous, deep red dress with white polka dots on it and it fell just below the knee.

We all walked onto the dance floor as it got busier, me and Dally did stay at the side a bit of the time though. It was mostly fast songs. When 'Stay Gold' by Stevie Wonder came on. "This is our song." I heard Pony say to Emmalie, when I looked over I saw them kiss, she looked so happy and so did he.

"Let's dance." Dally said dragging me onto the dance floor.
