"Harry, Hermione, Ron? What are you doing here?" I asked as I walked up the path from Hagrid's house on the edge of the forest. They looked to one another and then Hermione spoke, "We wanted to go see Hagrid quickly before Buckbeak was..." she stopped and I didn't want to force her to continue.
"I understand," I looked to the sun floating low in the sky, "just be careful. The sun will set soon and you need to be back by sunset,-you don't want to get caught by Mr Filch." I smiled and waved them off as I continued up the giant stone stepped hill. I stopped suddenly and I wasn't sure what it was that made me stop but I did and turned around into the blowing wind. There was a bittersweet scent on the wind and I could see for miles on top of the hill. The sun was setting gradually and the sky was all different shades of gold and orange and pink. The trees looked full of life all but one, the Whomping Willow. It was a sad looking tree with only a few leaves and long spindly limbs, underneath I could just make out a small figure coming out of the roots of the tree. It was a dog.
I began walking but I lost sight of the dog after I had run down the hill. Luckily I got to the tree just before nightfall. It was still moving though so I quickly cast a simple spell to immobilise it; and it swayed to a stop, I looked down to watch my step and saw signs of a struggle pressed into the grass. By the looks of things there had been a fight and something or someone was dragged down into the passage below. Thinking the worst had happened I hurried along the cold, damp tunnel until I reached the trap door leading up into the Shrieking Shack. There was a trail of blood on the old wooden floorboards. Stepping inside I heard raised voices from up the stairs, someone (a girl), screamed and I ran into one of the old bedrooms. The door was open and what looked like drag marks stopped making me look up. "Sirius!" I ran through the doors and launched myself into his arms, which he hastily threw up to stop me from knocking him over. I kissed him passionately, but was interrupted. "You're on his side?!" Hermione was standing a few feet from us, Harry was behind her and Ron was on the bed nursing his foot, which happened to be bleeding. Startled, I turned to face Hermione, "You don't understand Hermione. For all your brilliance you don’t know everything." It was a little harsh but she shouted at me first. "Did you really have to hurt Ron love?" I questioned Sirius, gesturing towards the boy with the injured foot. He frowned, "It was unintentional I...” I stopped him with a hand to his arm and shushed the three teenagers. I heard foot-steps below and whispered to Sirius, "I’ll be right back." I left and carefully tiptoed down the balcony towards the door to the other staircase. I had started walking down the steps when I heard a loud bang and a clatter from upstairs. "Are you going to kill me Harry?" I heard Sirius ask, he was beginning to sound a little maniacal but he wasn't exactly completely alright upstairs after twelve years of Azkaban so it didn't alarm me too much. While I had been listening, the other person had run up the stairs and I heard an unmistakable voice yell, "Expelliarmus!"
