The remainder of the week following the voices incident ran smoothly. I didn't see nor hear anything outside of the norm. Just the usual seaside life of waves and people talking. That's it. No more apparitions...no more mocking chatter...none of it. They were all gone, allowing me to focus solely on my work and that was just what I did. I kept my eyes glued on the screens and was pleased to see none of the...things lingering. I was free.

I am free.

And since it's Saturday, so is my calendar. I have the whole day to do whatever I want. I can get some grocery shopping done, go to the beach, do some photography around Nora, or...visit Tokyo. I have enough money to do that. Hell, I could even get a hotel and stay the night there if I want to, but I find that too redundant. Maybe for a long weekend, but not for a single night. Still, I can do whatever I want...I just have to figure out what I want to do.

I am in thought when a crisp breeze rolls in off the waves, the sea salt scent filling my nose as the zephyr brushes through my h/c locks. It is a cool gust that is being met with the fast approaching winter season, though it could be worse. At least I'm not freezing. Just the occasional shiver. That's all.

"Maybe I should be productive and go shopping. My fridge and cabinets are looking pretty bare these days," I murmur to myself, looking out over the ocean from my balcony. "That'd be the sensible thing to do."

The bright golden haze of the late morning sun dances across the ocean's surface, the light bouncing and reflecting off the water. The ripples and movements of the sea bends the gleams, making it shimmer like citrine as the gale blows the thick cumulus and cumulonimbus clouds across the blue welkin. It truly is a beautiful day in the village despite the chill in the air. It's too nice of a day to be locked up inside my apartment all day.

"Guess I will go shopping then a trip to the beach later this evening," I say to myself. "Maybe even a picnic."

I'm pleased with my plans and am about to push away from my balcony's rail to leave when something catches my eye. Walking on the sidewalk by the sand is a duo -both male. One is a short, blond boy with a ski cap snuggly rested on his head as a thick coat and blue jeans cloth him, shielding him from the chilly breeze. I can't see much detail about him, but he looks young. Like, adolescent young. And the other fellow...he's taller. He's taller than the first with a slim build that is covered by nothing besides a thin navy tracksuit and a raggedy appearing scarf. He doesn't seem fashionable and unlike his companion, his messy, dark blue locks are blowing freely in the wind. However, much like his friend, he too has youthful features, though I can tell he isn't a teenager. A young man, but not a teen.

The two are just walking alongside one another, their eyes locked on the path in front of them. They both seem lost in concentration, neither saying a thing. No exchanging of words whatsoever. They just walk. To be honest, I don't know why I'm so fixated on the pair. There's nothing overly impressive or fascinating about them. They're just two more people amongst many people that I will merely glimpse over throughout my life. That's all. And yet...

And yet I can't look away from them.

I'm just staring when I hear the blond say, "You have no idea where we're going, do you?"

The other stops in his tracks and lifts his shoulders, pouting, "Oof. Look, I'm trying!" He turns, facing the blond. "I got a little turned around, that's all!"

"Uh-huh," the shorter scoffs. "You got us lost AGAIN! You do this all the time, Yato! You are so irresponsible, so unreliable, and..."

By this point, I block out the blond boy's angry rant, though it's comical to watch. He is pissed off -I can tell. Waving his finger and arms furiously at the one I assume to be named Yato. And as for this Yato, he looks like a wounded puppy or a small child being scolded by a furious parent. Not quite what I expect due to the fact that I believe he's older, but age means nothing, I guess. Still, this is all amusing. At least, it is to me, anyway.

I am in the midst of watching this entertaining duo when I notice something. The one named Yato glances away from his compadre and lifts his gaze to me, never changing his posture. Even from the distance between us, I can feel my body freeze as my breath hitches. He sees me. He's looking right at me. There's no mistaking it. He is definitely looking right at me and I can feel that.

I'm thinking about running away to hide when he perks up, waving his hand in a friendly manner as he beams, "Hello there! Don't mean to bother ya, but do you think you can help us?"

The blond follows his friend's stare, annoyance masking his features before it shifts to surprise at seeing me. Honestly, I'm surprised too. This was not how I expected my day to go.

"Yoohoo!" tracksuit calls, a warm smile lifting the corners of his lips. "Ma'am! Ma'am, can you help two lost boys out?"

MA'AM?! I wail internally. Why I oughta.

I open my mouth, ready to snap at him when I hear a pleasantly sweet voice from below gush, "Oh! I'm sorry gentlemen! Were you talking to me?"

My eyes fall, watching as an older woman walks down off the porch that leads to the entrance of Seven. She glances both ways and crosses the road, meeting the two strangers where they stand. The three begin to converse, the taller fellow cracking the biggest smile as the blond bows in gratitude. They finish gathering the information they need and make for their leave, waving farewell at the woman as she responds with her own.

At that, the two boys walk away, the silence once again blanketing them. They exchange no words and grow smaller and smaller with the more distance they place between us. And with that, their existence in my life has come to a close. Just that small snippet of time and that's all. Nothing more. So, as I do with any other minor character in my life, I just push the thought of them aside and turn away, heading into my room.

Ma'am. Tch.
