Five yen.

That's all it takes to attract the Delivery God Yato. Just five yen and he'll be here. That's all it'll take. And yet, as I stare at the little coin in my palm, I'm afraid it might not work. I saw what happened at Kofuku's. He acted as if we never exchanged a single word and I almost believed him. I almost bought into his act. But I know what I saw last night. I know those things are real.

And I know he was looking at me.

So, I must blindly have faith in my little plan. The first may have failed, but this one will give me the outcome I desire. Yato will come and he won't just brush me off like last time. Even if I fake it, I must be confident in this. And so, I will.

I close my eyes and squeeze my hand into a fist, holding the coin close to my chest. With a strong inhalation, I focus on my wish. The wish that'll make or break my plan.

"Okay. Dear Delivery God Yato," I breathe, relaxing my shoulders. "I'm calling out to you the wish on my heart and asking you to fulfill it in exchange for this five yen." This feels so weird. "I wish for answers. Answers only you can give, Yato god."

I open my eyes and scan around me. Nothing yet. All is as I have left it. But that doesn't mean it didn't work. After all, he's a Delivery God. It probably takes him time to fill his wish orders. So, all I can do is sit here and wait.

And wait.

And wait.

And wait.

Growing discouraged, I lift my stare to the clock. I've been patiently waiting for an hour and still nothing. No Yato and no Yukine. Was I wrong to assume he'd come? Did I overestimate his abilities? Or...is he really another figment of my imagination? I shudder to consider the final possibility, but I could have sworn he's...he acted so...he needs to be real. This can't just all be in my head.

I twiddle my thumbs and lift my gaze to the ceiling, huffing, "Yato god? Hello? I know you're there and I know you remember me. Look." I hold up the coin. "I have five yen. Doesn't that mean you're supposed to grant my wish or something? Hello?"

Still silence. Still quiet. Still nothing. Still all making me question my sanity. Maybe he's not real. Maybe I did make him up. Why is beyond me. Maybe I was feeling lonely before and a tad homesick. Maybe I liked the idea of someone granting my wishes. Maybe.

"Wow. I feel like a fucking -" I begin when I'm interrupted.

"It's your friendly neighborhood Delivery God Yato, at your service," an all too familiar voice says lowly.

I turn to see Yato. He's in the doorway to my room, his eyes averted down. His hands are shoved into the pockets of his tracksuit's jacket as his posture remains almost slouched. Honestly, though I'm pleasantly surprised to see him, he does not appear to reciprocate that same energy. In fact, he looks...troubled. Why, though? What could be troubling a god?

I push that thought away and smile, "You came."

"Well, yeah. You have a job for me," he mutters, bringing his stare to mine.

"You're right," I nod, rising to my feet. "Yato god, I have questions for you, and I need honest ans-"

He is suddenly in front of me, extending a hand to me, those eyes once again dropped. "First, pay up."

I'm taken slightly aback, not expecting this behavior. I mean, I understand that he loves his five yen, but this is just...rude. Shouldn't he hear me out before demanding his money? Isn't that the decent thing to do?

"E-excuse me?" I stammer in surprise.

His eyes meet mine as he replies, "You want your wish granted? Then pay up. Five yen."

"B-but you didn't even do anything yet," I protest.

"You give me five yen and I'll grant your wish," he says matter-of-factly. There's a silence between us as he scans me before adding, "I promise."

I eye him but begrudgingly hand over the coin. Our fingers accidentally brush against one another, causing chills to run the length of my spine. The hairs on my arms rise in response as my breath hitched. Though, he seems unfazed by the entire encounter.

He tosses the coin up and catches it, all the while saying, "You have made a wish that's been heard loud and clear. May you get the answers you need."

**Ello lovelies! So...I'm thinking that this will be a shorter book. I don't wanna force too much in the remaining chapters, so most of your answers and action will come in the next (or possibly following) book. We'll all see in time! As I said, things will eventually get crazy. Anyway, thank you so much for everything! Y'all are da bestest! Wuv yous!! <3**
