"Yatty! We're back! Are you here?" Kofuku chimes, dashing into what must be her home.

I follow the pair into the little house, ditching my shoes as my eyes wander upon the walls. It appears rather plain with a few decorations and chimes that hang in the doorway. It's traditional and cozy. It's not fancy nor extravagant by any means, but it's nice. It's nice and homey, which is almost suiting. Though I don't know anything about Kofuku, she seems like she isn't the kind of girl with expensive taste. At least, that's what I'm getting from all this.

"Yatty!" she repeats, running into another room. "Yatty? We're back!"

Both Daikoku and I just stand there as Kofuku continues to search her home. Honestly, it's awkward. It's awkward because it's silent -aside from Kofuku's irritatingly annoying cheerfulness- and I have no idea what to say to change that. All I can do is stand here and twiddle my thumbs like a jackass.

"Once again, I'm sorry about my lady," Daikoku sighs, lowering his dark eyes to me. "She gets a little carried away at times."

I wave one of my hands dismissively and smile, "Don't worry about it. I'm sure she would've meant no harm."

"Uh...yeah," he agrees, scratching the back of his neck. "Would you like some tea? I can make some real quick."

"Oh, no. I don't wanna be a bother," I laugh half-heartedly.

"Eh. You're not a problem. Besides, you're waiting on Yato and there's no telling where that knucklehead is," Daikoku mutters.

He patters into the kitchen area and gets to work, beginning the process of boiling some water. I follow behind him and kneel at the table before me. Kofuku is still scurrying about the house, still searching and calling for Yato as the two of us just remain drenched in silence.

Still feeling awkward, I say, "So...why do you call Kofuku your lady? Is she your girlfriend or something?"

He turns to me chuckling, "Oh, no. It's nothing like that. She's my master."

My eyes widen. "Wait, are you what Yukine is? What's he called? A...a regalia, I think?" I sit up, staring up at the man. "Are you?"

He scans me quickly before sighing, "That Yato went and said too much." He fishes into his pocket and gets a cigarette, lighting it. "To answer your question, yeah. I'm a regalia like Yukine."

Wow. There's more...there's more like Yato and Yukine. To be honest, I shouldn't be surprised. I'm being revealed a whole new reality than I've grown up believing. One where gods and the servants that serve them are real. One where the things I've seen all my life have a name. One where the world as I know it has been turned upside down. And yet, everything is slowly starting to make sense.

"Here," Diakoku says, pulling me from my thoughts as he places a steaming cup of tea in front of me. "Hopefully this will warm you up."

"Oh, thank you," I say, bringing the cup to my lips. I swallow a gulp, the warmth of the tea rolling down my throat and into my stomach. I smile, humming, "Mmm. It tastes good."

He takes a seat across from me. "No problem." He takes a drink of his own tea. "I don't mean to pry, but how do you know Yato?"

I fidget with my cup before replying, "Umm...I don't...I don't really know him, know him. I just...know of him."

Daikoku eyes me, the expression on his face unreadable, but I can tell he's scanning me. Beneath those fierce eyes of his, that's all I can tell. Aside from that, he just looks overly annoyed and frustrated. Maybe he just has a resting bitch face.

"So...um, how do you know Yato?" I press, feeling so small beneath his stare.

"Unfortunately, I know that idiot because of my lady," he answers, massaging his temples. "She and Yato are close."

"Oh?" I say. "Are they...lovers?

Daikoku perks up, an expression of annoyance and alert mixing together as he panics, "Of course, they're not lovers! I'd break that prick like a toothpick if he ever dared to touch my lady like that!" He quickly regains composure, clearing his throat. "I mean, no. No, they are not lovers. Friends. They're friends."

Friends. He has a friend. It's funny. Though I never believed in any gods before recently, I never expected this. I never thought they'd have friends. I mean, why would they need anything as...earthly as that? I thought that's something us measly mortals need. Companions and compadres that laugh during lunch and talk about the latest in pop culture with. At least, I assume that's what friends still do.

It's stupid, really. I'm kind of jealous. Someone as seemingly scatterbrained as Yato has a friend. He has someone he can turn to and rely on. Maybe even someone that helps to defuse him and Yukine when they bicker too much. Maybe? Then again, maybe not.

"Friends," I repeat, tightening my hold on the cup. "Must be nice."

I can feel Daikoku once again scanning me when there's a sudden commotion followed by Kofuku squealing, "Yatty! You're back! There's a surprise visitor here to see you, Yatty!"

"What? Someone came here to see this freakin' moron?" Yukine's keen tone snaps.

"Watch who you call a moron, ya freakin' moron!" Yato fires back.

Daikoku lets out a rough sigh as I just roll my eyes. I'm certain that all Yato and Yukine do is argue like siblings. In fact, that's almost what their relationship seems like. It's less like a master-servant relationship and more like two brothers constantly going back and forth.

"She's this way!" Kofuku chimes, once again pulling me back to the moment.

"She? They're a freakin' she?!" Yukine whines.

"What can I say? The ladies love me," Yato gloats.

Kofuku giggles, "You're so funny, Yatty."

I wait and watch as the trio make their way into where Daikoku and I are situated. I take a deep breath, bracing myself for whatever his reaction will be. There's any number of outcomes that could happen, so I'm just being prepared.

I lift my gaze up, my eyes immediately colliding with a set of alluring azure orbs.
