Chapter 17: Restless

Images from that night still lingers in the forefront of my mind. Memories of the creature slithering through the night sky and the sudden flash still paint themselves upon the walls of my brain. All the emotions of dread and paranoia that I felt is still fresh. I recall it all, but there's something that has kept a tight grip on my concentration more than the others.

What I saw and heard beyond the rocks.

Though I couldn't see much through the night's veil, I can still remember them. The two strangers. Memories of them talking and bickering keeps replaying in my thoughts, their words still baffling me. What the hell were they talking about? I wonder, throwing back a chip into my mouth. What vent? What storm? And what's with the whole master complex? I'm still lost on all of it and I hate that I'm still trained onto the whole thing like a dog with a bone, but work is uneventful, leaving my thoughts to recklessly wander with no aim.

I wish I knew how to stop it, but there's no hope. I know myself and I know I have zero control over where my mind chooses to go. If it chooses to zero in on what happened in the late hours of Saturday night...or rather, the early A.M. hours of Sunday morning, then that's where I'm doomed to go. Not that it bothers me. Well, for the most part, it doesn't bother me. The whole giant flying snake in the sky part is not my favorite, but everything that followed...that doesn't bother me.

Still, though it seems crazy to believe, something about the pair seemed oddly familiar. I'm not sure why it feels that way, but that's just how it is. I'm not sure if I've passed them before or if I know someone who has mentioned them, but I can't shake it. It's weird and almost uncomfortable, but it is what it is I suppose.

I shake my head and shove all thoughts about the duo aside and return to my work, my eyes lingering on the screens. As usual, there's nothing out of the norm. People are innocently browsing the shop's merchandise and purchasing what they want before leaving. Nothing is out of place and everything is as it should be. Everything is exactly as expected.

How boring and dull.

I let out a haggard sigh as my mind once again drifts back to all that happened. Even after replaying it over and over, I'm no closer to any answers than I was then. If anything, I'm even more baffled and curious. And my curiosity feeds into my adventurous side. Oddly enough, I want to see the pair again and observe them. After all, something about them is quite intriguing. Especially after all that I saw. Either I made it all up with my exhausted mind or...or it was real. Regardless, I want to find out.

But how? How could I see them again? The chances of that are slim. I mean, I don't know where to find them or anything like that. Or do I? Two times now I've stumbled across a stranger on the beach. Though I'm not sure if the two encounters are related, it's still something and something is better than nothing.

So, the beach is my variable. The beach is my starting point. The beach is my clue. And hopefully, the beach will hold some answers. Hopefully.

**Bello my wonderful lovelies! Shorter chapter today, but it's a filler. However, Y/N seems to be concocting a plan involving the beach. Any ideas as to what she has planned? Feel free to let me know! Also, I wanna say that at the end of this project (whenever that is lol) I'll hold a Fun Facts section. I did it for both my Levi and Jean projects, so I will definitely do it for this one (and all projects here on out). That said, I'm gonna do what I did in the Jean Fun Facts and extend the opportunity to readers to ask questions. They can be about the story (I recommend asking those after the story progresses more), my writing process, or anything you really wanna know. If the question requires a super long response, then I will answer it in my Behind the Writer book during its next "phase". But yeah, I thought it'd be cool to hear any questions y'all got. They'll be collected until that section. Anyway, thank you so much for everything! Y'all are da bestest! Wuv yous!! <3**
