Prologue

"Is she the new girl?"

"I think so. I've never seen her before."

"Me neither. Why?"

"I was just curious, is all."

"She doesn't look like she's from here, that's for sure."

"I think she's pretty."

"I like her hair."

"I like her eyes."

"Where's she from?"

"I don't know but I want to find out."

"Me too."

"Let's go talk to her. Come on."

"Wait for me!"

"Keep up, Akari."

"I hope she's nice."

"Me too. She looks nice. I really like her smile."

"I'm sure she'll be very kind."

"Just don't make her feel uncomfortable. She's new, so she's probably already nervous."

"We know, we know."

"Hi! I'm Kimi and these are my two friends, Akari and Itsumi. It's very nice to meet you."

I was scared. I didn't know anyone and that terrified me. I was in a place I did not know with people I had never met before. I felt like a cornered animal that was trembling and snarling with fear, but their kind eyes and warm smiles disarmed me. When I met those deep orbs filled with light, I found myself becoming at ease.

If only they knew how comfortable they made me.
