I hear a knock at the door, just as I was heaving my bags. I was leaving town this morning to get to my destination by sunset, so I had time to go to the library. Huffing, I rush to open the door. "Hello?" I muster, looking straight before trailing my eyes up someone's white button up. I allow my eyes to trace around a certain boy's as a grin bares on his face. I feel my throat go dry, mind boggling for something worthwhile to say. But nothing comes out. "Hey, Dollface. Been a while, huh?" Russell Tringham speaks, looking down at my carry-ons. I open my mouth to respond with anything, but again I'm silenced. "Going somewhere?" I ignore him for a moment before shouting out to my parents, "I'm leaving now! Love you!"

"Goodbye, love you too!"

"Don't get eaten by snakes!"

I roll my eyes at my dad's antics before closing the door with my suitcase and my satchel. I sigh, "So, why're you in town, Russell? Last time I saw you, you had tried to persuade me to run away with you." He shakes his head with a short smile playing on his lips, taking my suitcase out of my hand and rolling it along behind us. Russell replies, arm around my shoulder, "Couldn't leave my favourite girl behind. Me and Fletcher are just laying low for a bit." I nod my head, turning the corner. Russell sends me a look. "Where are you heading off to?" I spot Fletcher up ahead, waving eagerly at us. Chuckling, I answer back, "To stay at my aunt's for a bit. I'm heading for the State Alchemist exam. I've been studying real hard - look!" I hold out an Alchemy book that my mother had gotten me two years ago.

"A State Alchemist?" He repeats, widening his eyes at me. I scoff, "Yes, of course. Why, don't think I can handle it?" Fletcher walks beside his brother, keeping in pace with us. Russell looks down at me, running the back of his neck. "I don't know, Y/N. State Alchemists get into a lot of trouble nowadays." I shrug my shoulders, bumping my body into his side. I say, "Don't worry. I'll have you to guide me, Fullmetal Alchemist." He gasps slightly and pulls away. Fletcher leans up to be in sight as he mumbles, "You heard about that? I thought we escaped the whispers..." I pout at Fletcher and sigh, "Oh, word gets around easily over here. I just had to piece together the puzzle you left behind. You two boys have done a lot to dent the Elric Brothers' reputation, I'll give you that." Running a hand through my hair, I see Russell staring at the ground. I take his arm off my shoulder, slipping my hand into his and squeezing tightly. "Are you okay?"

He responds, slowly looking back at me, "Y-Yeah. I just thought that we could spend some time together before me and Fletcher have to jump on another train again." I gulp, leaning my head on his shoulder. Russell was taller than me, just enough for me to have to go on my toes to kiss his lips. Not that I've tried to, heavens no. But not like I've pretended to... "If you'd like, you two can come along with me! I've got enough money to last two weeks, including shopping sprees. I can pay for your tickets." I prompt, earning a side glance from Russell and his little brother. Fletcher tugs on his brother's shirt. "Oh! That'd be so fun! You love hanging out with Y/N, Brother!" Russell harshly flicks Fletcher's forehead. "Ow... I mean, we love hanging out with Y/N! Can we please go?"

We stop on our tracks, Fletcher begging his brother further. I stifle a giggle, "You two are just adorable. C'mon, Russell! This'll be fun!" I drag his arm towards the train station, looking back at his annoyed face. He rolls his eyes, but I see a small smirk reaching his lips. I halt, standing straight and holding Russell's cheeks in my hand. I whisper, "I haven't seen you two in months... think about all the fun we could have!" As I say that, my palms become warmer from Russell's cheeks. He grunts, pulling my hands away from his face but still holding onto them, "Fine, whatever. But promise me that when you become a State Alchemist, you'll help us finish our research." I nod my head, rushing off to the station with Fletcher laughing about all the wonderful things we could do in town.
