Undercover (DN Light Yagami X Matsuda Reader)

"Mr L, with all due respect, I do not think that my-I mean, Ms Takahashi would be fit for this 'mission'." Matsuda interrupts L, standing from his chair. They were talking about how Light and Y/N were being sent on an undercover assignment. Kira was thought to be in surrounding schools, since where they were located was very populated. L said the chances of Kira being there was higher than anywhere else in the country. Light was currently in his last year of high school and still looked like it, so Mr Yagami had suggested him to work there.

But L had stated that the next school they were searching was having a dance on the only open time they had. And wow, huge coincidence, it was Y/N's school. So Mr Aizawa had informed L of this and implied that Y/N could be apart of the assignment. Y/N gulps, sitting closer to Matsuda as they talk about it. She's uncomfortable about the topic, so she tugs on his sleeve. Light picks up on it, furrowing his brows slightly before relaxing again.

"Yes, although I am glad to help with the investigation, Sir, I do cross the line at my personal life." Y/N says, fiddling with her skirt. "And in addition to the cons, my friends and teachers might be there. A chance to learn my real name would be at risk." The Task Force agrees, saying that Light could handle it on his own. Ukita then states, "If Kira really is in your school, there is a chance of them already knowing your real name. You could already be the next victim." Y/N widen her eyes, clenching her jaw tightly,

Matsuda growls, hand on Y/N's shoulder, "Don't put that in her head!" Taking in the facts stated, Ide then inputs, "But you said it was a dance. It would be so weird and suspicious just to have Light - a kid that doesn't study to their school - go to their prom without a date." Light and L lean back in their chairs, thinking for a moment. That was a good point.

Y/N puts in, "Why don't I just put him in the school's data base as a transfer? Two weeks. The dance is in two days, Light can be a transfer for two weeks that's been working from home." L raised his brows, then remembering why Y/N was on the team. She was a star hacker and broke through his firewall three times to prove her worth. So she could do that. "That may be possible." L whispers, scratching his chin. Mr Yagami then shakes his head, arguing, "Light is not missing out on two weeks of school. He is a straight A student, universities want him. Do you have any idea how his grades will get the bad side of the bargain with this assignment?" Light nods his head, agreeing with his father.

Matsuda grunts, "B-But Ms Takahashi is very skilled. She can change his grades for when he is away. Or if you want to be more honest, she can send your son the work for him and he can get his scores morally." He sounds really protective of Y/N, which he was right in doing. Y/N was his little sister, 7 years younger but still just as smart as him, maybe even more. Even though only Mr Yagami knew about this, he didn't want the others to walk all over her.

Y/N clears her throat, "That is a possibility too. Now, I will just get to work. Light, see me later to pick out a suit. I think you'd look good in dessert sand brown." L stands from his spot, pointing at her to stop moving. He states, "No, we will go through with the first plan. That would jeopardise Light's reputation at school and would raise suspicion. The more safest route is the one Mr Aihara suggested." Y/N stops on her tracks, seeing her brother's fear in his eyes. She runs a hand through her hair, looking away from the obvious gaze from Light.

L goes on, tapping his thumb on his lips, "Ms Takahashi, you have said before that you were apart of the cooking club and that you've made baked goods for many school celebrations. You've built a reputation before, so Light going there will definitely show your identity. Kira may already have you in mind, we have to find him before he takes you too." Light's brows dint downwards. He couldn't even try to take 'Takahashi's life. No way.
