Chapter Five

Today is the day of the People's Choice Awards, which means for the past week it's been chaotic as hell. Delilah hasn't been home for longer than a couple hours since Monday.
The kids are taking to a bit rough but she promised a day at Disney Land after everything so they seemed to have calmed down.
Since Delilah invited me along side her tonight, Julie had me go with Delilah's stylist to get a tux. She picked out a white tux with a black button up and I really fell in love with it but she says I can't keep it unless I buy it and I really won't need it again after tonight. Oh well.
Delilah and I have to be at the stylist for Delilah in an hour so we have to say goodbye to Veronica and the kids and head out in the limo with Julie.

"Bye kids. Be good for grandma, okay?" Delilah says before waving goodbye and heading out the door.

"Don't do anything I would do alright Violet?" I joke and she laughs too. "I love you guys." I give Asher and Grayson a big hug and Violet a small kiss on the forehead.
"We'll see you tomorrow morning and we'll go to-" I pause to amp them up. "Disney Land!" I shout and all 3 of them get excited. I wave one last goodbye and head out the door as Julie is calling my name.

We knew we wouldn't be home till tomorrow morning because we were invited to the after party which is 2 hours away from the Venue and 3 from the house, Delilah and I will probably get really drunk so Julie got us a hotel room. I'll finally have some alone time with my wife after 9 years.

"I really hope Taissa wins." Delilah beams.

"Oh she will. Her performance was amazing." Julie assures her. "The dress we have for you is gorgeous Delilah, it's a green, satin gown. It looks almost like a robe but you wouldn't wear it like one."

"That's great." She smiles, placing her hand over mine as we make our way to the stylist.

After we pick up Taissa and arrive at the building,  we're inside, Delilah starts getting her hair and makeup done and I'm getting my tux on.

"Yes, this looks even better then when we picked it out." The man observed my appearance after it's on. I look in the mirror and I have to agree.

"Ah!" Delilah half screams from behind me. "My stud!" I turn to face her as her makeup and hair is done but she's still in her clothes from before. She's so beautiful. He share a small kiss before the man tells Delilah to put her dress on.
She obliges and takes the dress to the dressing room.
I go sit down to get my hair done next to Taissa and get a little star struck even though the only thing I've seen her in is Delilah's movie.

"Brendon?" She puts her hand out to shake mine and I do. "We didn't actually introduce ourselves yet. What with Julie over here nonstop talking." She jokes and Julie playfully rolls her eyes.

"It's great to meet you. I love your work."

"Your wife is amazing, she really helped me capture the character." She explains and I nod. "How long have you two been together?"

"About 15 years." I tell her and she gapes.

"That's so long. That's amazing."

"Thanks. I love her with all my heart." I smile and she does too.

"Okay Taissa, all done. Go get your dress on." The woman says and then starts on my hair.

After we're all ready, we get in a long limo and head out to the venue.

"Delilah that dress really is amazing." Taissa completes her.

"I could say the same." Delilah smiles at her. Her dress is knee length, white and lace. It's definitely pretty, just as pretty as Delilah's.

An hour after the red carpet walk, with all of us taking pictures the awards finally begin and we're sat about 10 rows back, Delilah on my right, Taissa after her and then Taissa's date who met us here. Julie stayed back stage with the rest of the managers and publicists.
They begin with the host making dumb jokes about certain people and then the first award he given.
I have to say I'm in awe of the people surrounding me, all the celebrities I'm in the same room as. It's quite dazzling.

Finally, they call Taissas category and then her name and the camera pans to our little group and she smiles.

"And the winner for best female actress in a drama goes to..." they pause. "Taissa Framiga for Violet's Story!" She calls and Delilah gasps. The two get up and share a hug and then I stand and hug Delilah which the camera gets. Taissa goes up on stage and accepts her award.

"I'm so happy to be accepting this award, I'd like to say thank you to the director, the other cast members, Charlie Rowe, Piper Perabo, Dean Winters...all of them. I'd like to thank the fans who voted and watched. Its not easy...to portray such a dark story and be able to make it look like exactly what it is but it's because of Delilah Urie, the amazing author of the book, she helped me with everything, you know, she came from that world and then she put me in it and I wouldn't be up here without her so thank you Delilah." She finishes and then makes her way back to us.

"That was so sweet of her." I tell Delilah who is crying. I pull her in for a side hug and kiss her head. When she gets back to us, her and Delilah share a hug where I hear Delilah thank her and Taissa does the same.
