Colby and I finished our meals at Tender Greens. We did get closer through our conversations, and we even exchanged numbers. I mean, I still didn't know Colby's typical behavior but he seemed off since he got that text. Whoever it was from."I hope you liked your meal." Colby pulled out his wallet to pay. I wanted to pay, but I didn't feel like going through playfully fighting.
"I did. It was amazing actually." I smiled to try and see if he would.
"Good, good. Maybe I'll bring you back sometime when Brennen and I go." He didn't, but he was busy counting the money.
He stood up, "Alright are you ready to go?"
"Yup." I wiggled off of the cushion of the booth seat.

-Colby's POV-
When we got back home, I didn't say much to Violet. I threw my keys onto the rack and went upstairs into my room. I looked back at the text message Shea sent me when I was at Tender Greens.
*Text Conversation*
Shea: Hey, I'm coming to Los Angeles for the week.
Colby: Okay, but I can't really hang out much. I'm busy this week.
I was lying to her. I still didn't know how I felt about Violet but I didn't want to hurt her by falling back in love with Shea. But I didn't want Shea to know about Violet yet either.
Shea: Oh, alright. I was hoping that maybe we could.
Colby: I don't know. I'll see if I can work something out. I've got to go. I'll text you later.
Shea: Okay, bye Colby.
*End of Text Conversation*
Damnit Colby. You gave in again. I really felt like I had a devil standing over my left side and an angel over my right. Clearly something wanted Shea back into my life.
-Violet's POV-
When we got home, I found it weird that Colby didn't say much to me. He just went upstairs right as we got inside. Hopefully it didn't have to do with anything with that text he got. But it wasn't really any of my business anyway.
I went to go look for Sam. His car was here, but I didn't find him at all downstairs. Maybe he was outside in the backyard.
I walked through the doors by the kitchen. I was right, there was Sam. Sitting in the hot tub alone with a camera.
"Hey Violet!" Sam yelled from across the pool.
I walked over. The cement was hot on my feet. "Hey Sam."
"Are you alright?" His facial expression changed from being happy to concerned.
"Yeah. I just came out here to ask you something. Maybe it's normal, I don't know." I shrugged.
"Sure. Why don't you get your swim suit on and come on in. It's kinda boring out here but I like the hot tub."
"Yeah, I'm down. I'll be down in a few."
I went upstairs to go grab my white bandeau top swim suit with the matching bottoms. When I came out my room I could hear music coming from Colby's. The song 'Leave' by Post Malone was playing.
I took a deep breath. I really did hope he was okay. But it just also could be that he likes Post Malone too.
I went back outside to the hot tub in the backyard to meet Sam, "I'm back."
"Welcome back." Sam patted the concrete step next to him, motioning for me to sit next to him. "So what's bothering you?"
"Colby." I sighed.
"Oh, were you two together just a little bit ago? I couldn't find either of you so I came out here to film a video..in the hot tub." Sam seemed a little embarrassed by his idea.
"Yeah. He took me to lunch at Tender Greens. But he got a text message from someone. So we didn't talk much on the car ride home. When we came inside he didn't say much either, he just went upstairs." I felt a knot in my throat from rambling on about this.
-Sam's POV-
Colby is one of the most complicated people I know. He's hard to read. But I did know who that text was from, even without asking. I knew it wasn't my place to step in and say this but Violet probably is going to find out one way or another.
"Violet, Colby is complicated. He's just got a thing going on with some people and I don't even know how he feels about it. It's really not my place to say any of this but-" Colby would kill me if he found out I told Violet this.
"But what?" She looked at me with concern. "Who was it from?"
"Uh, her name is Shea. Shea and Colby used to have a thing. But she moved away and I don't know what he thinks of her anymore. His attitude changed when she left, but it changed again when you came around." Shit I can't believe I just said that.
-Violet's POV-
"Oh." The knot in my throat dropped down to my stomach. I think that I really had started to feel something for Colby.
"Yeah. I'm sorry, I really wish I could help you out more. Colby's just a hard person to understand and I've known him for years." Sam bit down on his tongue, probably hoping that I wouldn't explode.
I reached for my phone on the rim of the hot tub, "Do you happen to have Brennen's phone number?"
"I do." I handed Sam my phone, "Could I have it?" Sam didn't ask any further questions. He just nodded his head and entered the number into my phone.
A/N
I don't know why, but writing this chapter broke my heart a little bit. Hahah, oops. I wonder what Violet's going to do with Brennen's phone number now that she has it. Hmm..
