Hi everybody! So one of the things I see a lot when talking to other people about She-Ra or listening to people talk about in on YouTube is that they think Glimmer's annoying, and frankly, I'm kind of sad about it. Watching the first few episodes, I can see why Glimmer would get on some people's nerves, and it wouldn't bother me if people just said they didn't like her and left it at that. But then I realized Glimmer just doesn't get as much love as Adora and Bow do, and I'm not really sure why. In the first batch of episodes, all she really wants to do is prove herself to her mother because she sees herself as a screw-up. And I think we've all been there, right? In fact, I'm willing to bet a lot of people have been in the situation Glimmer was in during Princess Prom. Bow's been her only friend for what, ever? And, understandably, she's jealous because NO ONE likes when someone else is getting their friend's attention instead of them. Everyone gets jealous sometimes. So sure, Glimmer's got some rough spots, but I don't think that makes her a bad character. She's got flaws, and that's great!
But don't get me wrong, I understand if she's not someone's favorite character, because she isn't mine either. But honestly, I love all the characters in this show so much I can count on one hand how many I actually dislike. And Glimmer's not one of them, because she's just trying her best and wants to make her mother and friends proud. It's okay if you don't like her, but I don't want to see all this unnecessary hate for her just because she isn't Bow or Adora or because you think the show would be better off without her. Because it wouldn't. The best friend squad wouldn't be complete without Glimmer.
