I quickly walk out the classroom door and rush to my locker eager to meet my best friend outside so that we can go to practise.
Somebody grabbed my wrist, pulling me towards a corner at the pavement.
"Huh?"
I almost stumble over from the impact of the yank.
After caring my balance I finally get to take in my surroundings and realize that it's Edwin who has pulled me into the corner.
He placed both of his hands at each end of my head hence preventing me from escaping.
"U-um Edwin. Do you need something ?"
He scrunches up his nose as if conflicted between what answer to give.
"I just want to see you before going home." he said while poking my nose.
"There was no need for you to pull me here you would have just said that over at the locker room." I said glancing up at him, my jaw nearly coming unhinged with an embarrassed and shock filled expression.
"U-um...."
"Calm down a little. No need to get all flustered." he said moving a tad close to me.
He leaned forward giving me a quick kiss on the cheek.
"I have to go, my friend is waiting for me." I said getting away from him.
"Hey bestie... "
"Where have you been?" Jay asked.
"In the washroom." I replied.
"Okay lets go or else we will be late for practise and get punished by the coach.....remember that you are also the team captain. "he said.
We rushed to the table tennis room and luckily the coach had not yet arrived though all the other team members were already there.
We quickly changed into our games kit and joined the others.
"Hey guys!" we both said in unison.
"Hey!" they all replied in unison.
We continued our practise while waiting for the coach.
"Hey!"
We were interrupted by a voice.
James!
"Your couch is absent today so he requested me to stand in for him today."
"Who is your team captain?
Was it really that necessary for him to know the team leader.
I raised my hand up.
He smiled at me.
"He also mentioned that it's one day to your contest."
"Yes!" we replied in unison.
"So make sure you do your best you only have a day left for you to be fully prepared." he said.
After a whole two hours of training, practise ends and everyone is walking out of the door including me.
"Captain have you made sure that all the names are well registered for the contest? "Someone asked from my back.
"Yes!" I said turning back to check who it was.
James! Again.
"What about all the equipment required at the match? he asked.
"Yes! I replied.
"Okay! Captain." he said smiling at me.
I smiled back with a fake smile.
Seriously, he is starting to get on my nerves. I said to myself.
"He is actually a good couch." Jay said.
"Yeah! But not as better as our couch. I groan.
"What's up with you and James? Jay asked.
"Nothing." I replied.
