Bare feet

My feet hit the earth

And she sings her song to me

I feel the vast heartbeat

Of three-trillion trees

My skin against her skin

The soft sand kisses my toes

She murmurs secrets from her brooks

Secrets that no one else knows

The earth takes my hand

In the gentle embrace of the wind

She shows me her many wonders

That she hides here deep within

And swimming through her oceans

The vastness of her mind

And striding through her forests

Her voice echoes through her pines

I share my all with you

And my heart is as open as the sea

I gave myself to you

In hopes of a life of peace

So in return for the love that I show

For you, my caretakers and my friends

Please protect and care for me

To heal my scars, wounds to mend

When you walk along the earth

I hope she whispers to you

I hope you feel her through bare feet

And that you learn to love her too
