All I wanted to do was go home and sleep. It was close to one in the morning and I was still stuck at the studio along with Leo, Paul, and some others. Maeve yawned as she continued to apply makeup onto my face. We were still searching for the right looks and products.
"Babe, do you mind tying your hair up? It's getting in the way," Maeve said apologetically. I nodded and obliged, snatching a thick elastic off of my wrist and tossing my curly hair into a giant bun just as Leo dragged himself into the room. He yawned before making eye contact with me, laughing upon seeing the irritated expression on my face. "Cheer up, buttercup," he laughed, patting my bun once with his hand and seating himself in a chair across from me.
I gave him a tight smile, shifting uncomfortably in my seat and wanting more than anything to just go home. "I have a super hot date with my bed when I get home," I joked, zipping my sweatshirt up some more and crossing my legs. Leo laughed, tapping his foot on the ground. "Did you watch 'The Basketball Diaries' yet?"
"Haven't found the time." I admitted, shaking my head. Leo made a clicking noise with his tongue and pulled out a pack of gum from his sweatshirt pocket, tossing me a piece. "Then I'm afraid your hot date is gonna have to wait. You better get to watching."
I rolled my eyes and glanced at Maeve who was motioning for me to tilt my head so she could do my other eye. "Can't we just watch it here when we come in tomorrow?" I groaned. Leo scrunched up his face as if he was disgusted at my suggestion. "I'm not watching a movie featuring myself with someone else. You can watch it alone," he insisted.
"Leo! Come over here I have to measure you for the knight costume again," someone called from the other side of the room. Leo slowly stood up and stretched dramatically. "Happy watching," he chuckled, slapping my knee before sauntering off to wherever he was needed. I flinched and whipped my head around to glare at him. "Ow!"
"Alright I'm done," Maeve sighed, taking out her phone to take a picture of my makeup look and send it to Baz. "Hopefully Baz likes this one."
I nodded and reached for the makeup wipes to cleanse my face. Maeve tugged the elastic from my bun, allowing my hair to tumble back down.
As I slowly started to scrub my face with the wipe, Diane Venora strode into the room with a full face of makeup on. She would be playing Gloria Capulet, Juliet's mother. "Oh darling, your hair is just breathtaking," she exclaimed, making her way over to me and running her delicate hands through my hair, heels clacking as she walked. "Too bad Baz is making me wear a wig," I muttered, tossing the used makeup wipe in the trash can beside me and reaching for another one. Diane scoffed and knelt down slightly so she could whisper in my ear. "Between you and me, you'd look ten times better as Juliet with your beautiful, natural hair."
I giggled at her compliment as she winked and made her way to the other side of the room to talk to a makeup artist. I sighed and stared at my beat down and tired-looking complexion in the mirror, grabbing my purse and keys. As I was about to exit the building, Paul caught up with me. His hair was a mess, to say the least, and the black sweatshirt he was wearing was ten times too big. He looked just as exhausted as I was. "I'm leaving too, I'll walk you out," he breathed out, a yawn escaping his lips.
"It's only been a week and I'm already sick of all the preparations. I still haven't looked over the script," I wailed, almost positive he was getting sick of my complaining. Paul was the guy I went to when I needed to rant; he was the best listener.
"I can't even imagine how tiring filming is gonna be in Mexico," he pointed out causing me to groan just thinking about waking up in the middle of the night to go shoot scenes. Paul ran a hand through his hair as we approached my car. "But seriously, go get some sleep. You need it," he advised me, chuckling quietly before pulling me into a side hug. I sighed happily before flashing him one more tired smile and disappearing into my car.
