Chapter 4 :

"I don't get it." I reply to Tyler while I drop my pencil to the floor.

Tyler and I are currently working on algebra, because he is supposedly the math genius, and my parents don't want me to get a C- in that class. Well guess what parents, school has advanced and its more harder than it was back when you were in middle school.

"No, you're supposed to simplify! Its a fucking fraction!" He groans in annoyance.

"Well I'm sorry for not simplifying your fractions!" I say in the same tone of voice.

"Can we just go inside? Its hot out here." He whines.

"Fine." I huff.

Tyler and I pick up our stuff from the lawn chairs and I use my key to unlock the door. I twist the silver handle and I walk inside my house with the ac turned to 60 degrees. I turn the heat up to 70 and I throw my bag on the couch. Tyler walks in behind me and runs to the fridge, not even bothering to put his bag down.

"You have cool aid!? Hell yeah!" he says and grabs the bottle.

"Tyler, help me." I whine.

"You baby. Just wait another minute." He sticks his tongue out at me.

"Wait are you still going to Mooresvile next year for high school?" I ask.

"Yeah." He says and tosses the bottle in the trash can.

"okay, good. Because I heard a lot of people were going to other schools."

"Like who?" He says and jumps on the beige colored couch.

"I'd don't know but Amanda told me." I said.

Tyler scrunched his nose at the sound of her name and stuck out his tongue. By the looks of his body language, he doesn't like her.

"I hate her so much." Tyler grumbles and jumps on the couch spot next to me and sits down.

"Hates a strong word y'know." I say slowly.

"That's the reason why I used it." Tyler grumbles once again and take a sip of a new koolaid from my fridge.

He's such a pig

"wow. why though?"

"Let's just say that it would be best to keep it unknown." Tyler says and grabs his notebook.

I nod my head and open my text book to page 245. Gosh this book is gigantic and heavy. I unzip my bag and pull out my calculator, and ruler and wait for the instructions that is going to be told to me.

"So, since this slope is a fraction, you have to simplify first." He says.

"Do I have to?" I groan.

"Come on, we both know you hate math so lets just get it over with." He rushes.

"Fine." I roll my eyes.

Countless times of me trying to figure this equation out, and nothing seemed to work for me. Tyler keeps on telling me what to do, but its like the information comes through one ear out the other and out the window.

"Jess, you. Are. Literally. Hopeless." Tyler says bluntly.

"I know that." I sigh in defeat and slam my text book shut.

"Lets just hope that you get at least a C on the test." Tyler says and puts his hand on my shoulder.

"Thanks." I mumble and put my books in my school bag.
