Chapter 3 :

"You aren't helping me, you're pretty much letting me copy off your paper. I'm not learning anything." I roll my eyes.

"I'm helping you finish the worksheet. I didn't say I'll help you learn it." He says while I take a bite out of my sandwich.

"Are you almost done copying it?" He rolls his eyes.

"I'm done already." I say and give his paper back to him.

"Can I ask you a question?" He asks.

"You already are."

"But that's not the question."

"Just ask me the question."

"So, there's this girl I really like." He says.

"Continue." I say then take another bite of my sandwich.

"I'm not sure if she likes me back." He says playing with the hem of his shirt and looking to the floor.

"Keep going." I say and wipe my mouth.

"I don't think she even likes me in general. What should I do?" He asks with pleading eyes.

"I think you should get to know the girl better. Just talk to her more and be yourself. Don't be afraid to do anything."

"But what if she rejects me?" He asks.

"Then give her some time and ask her again later."

"Thanks." He smiles.

"So who's the girl?" I ask. Hayes's face turns to a light pink and he looks away.

"Is she in our algebra class?" I ask.

"Maybe..."

"Who is it?"

"You'll see." He stands up right when the bell rings.

"Tell me." I poke his back.

"You'll see." He repeats.

"Hayes, we have algebra next. You do realize I'm going to bug you the entire time right?"

"That's okay." He shrugs and opens the door for me to the building.

"Kayla, help me figure out who Hayes likes." I nudge Kayla.

Kayla is practically my other best friend. Amanda, Kayla and I use to hang out but some sort of drama broke out between Kayla and Amanda, so they don't talk anymore. Which is really sad. I kind of miss the days where we got along and I didn't have to talk to them separately.

"Okay what was the hint?" She asks.

"She's in our Algebra class." I say.

"I'm right here you know, and you're never going to figure it out." Hayes says.

"We will." We say in unison.

"There are 30 people in our Algebra class. 15 girls, 15 boys. We all have to narrow it down to the people he would actually date." Kayla points out.

"why are you guys so interested in my Crush life?" Hayes groans.

"It's just fun figuring out who likes who." Kayla shrugs as we walk into the classroom.

I walk all the way to the back of the room where my desk is. The desks in this class were assigned seats also, so I get to sit next to Amanda in this class but not Kayla unfortunately. Not to be favorable, but if I did have to choose over best friends, I would choose Kayla.

"Hey." Amanda smiles.

"Hey." I say as I take a seat right next to her.

"Did you finish all of your chapter 9 homework? It's due today." She says as she gets her worksheets out.
