Chapter 6 :
"Come back here you little bitch!" I scream at hayes.
"Oh, what are you going to do about it huh?!" He shouts starting to run even faster.
Hayes runs outside and I chase after him. Hayes starts to circle around the house- which is definitely a rookie move- and I run four steps exactly then stop dead in my tracks, turn around running in the opposite direction.
I then see Hayes running towards me then looks at me with wide eyes before I charge at him and tackle him to the floor.
I start to wrestle Hayes screaming profanity at him until I finally pin him to the floor.
"Give. Me. My. Twenty. Dollars. Now." I say through my gritted teeth.
"I-I don't have it." He lies in a stutter.
"Bullshit! Give it now!" I shout making Hayes flinch.
"Alright alright!" He shouts back in defeat. "Here!" He says showing me the 20 dollar bill and throwing it at me. It falls on the grass and Hayes rolls over pinning me to the ground.
"Don't pin me to the floor again Kay?" He says and I push him off of me.
"You're lucky that I didn't rip your head off." I say glaring at him.
"Why was that bill so important that you had to tackle me for it?" He groans rubbing the back of his neck.
"Because my dad gave it to me." I said absent mindly. "He was supposed to come home yesterday, but he didn't. He said 'sorry kiddo I can't be there it's a catastrophe here at work.' But he didn't even come home last time and the time before. And the time before." I sigh.
"Aw don't cry on me Jess. We can bake a cake." Hayes suggested and sitting down besides me.
"I just wish he would come home." I sigh again shifting my entire torso to make my head rest in his lap.
"I know what would cheer you up." He said smiling down at me. "How about you make the popcorn and we can watch your favorite movie?" He grins.
"How come I make the popcorn?" I whine.
"Because you tackled me to the floor!"
"Well you stole my dollar bill!"
"Touché." He says smiling at me cheekily.
"C'mon lets go inside the house." I roll my eyes and stand up, giving a hand out to Hayes to help him up. Hayes takes it and pulls himself up from the grass and dusts some of the dirt off of his shirt.
"you're lucky that this isn't my favorite shirt." he rolls his eyes, making a funny face while shaking his head. "Rood." he adds and shakes his head even more.
"Our friendship is so bipolar y'know." I nudge his shoulder, earning a shove for me. I shove him back making the both of us laugh as we enter the house.
"So we're gonna watch She's the Man?" Hayes asks. I smile punching the air above me and a hiss a 'yes'.
"God you're a weirdo." Hayes laughs.
"so are you." I scowl at him.
"But you looooove me." Hayes says teasingly.
"yeah, keep telling yourself that." I mutter as I put the popcorn package into the microwave.
I wait about 2 minutes or so until the microwave stopped and the popcorn was done popping. I open the microwave and grab the hot bag and open it to pour it into the large bowl.
