It was the morning of the festival. Tema with Hana and Lucile were waiting outside at the back of the academy, waiting in a queue of the competitors. Instructors and workmen had built the temporary site over the last couple of days. It was like one big tent and all the audience were sat on makeshift wooden benches that went higher the further it went back.
Although the group had trained to some degree such as sword training and exercise they had no idea of the challenges which would be picked. Hana was quite excited "Tema this is going to be so much fun. I haven't really done this before" Tema looked slightly confused
"are you sure?" said Tema "I'd have thought you would have done this a few times"
"Well since I'm the princess. I haven't been able to find someone trustworthy enough to accompany me" Tema looked embarrassed
"thanks for finding me trustworthy" Lucile however looked rather worried
"Lucile are you alright?" asked Hana
"don't worry I'm fine"
"I wouldn't count on it"
This came from Cassandra "as soon as this starts she'll turn tail and run. Then we'll see if your still friends with her" as Tema walked forward Hana held him back
"Don't do anything Tema"
"but..." said Tema trying to react
"you can settle it in the challenges alright" Cassandra looked rather smug
"I would say good luck but you'll need more than that" she laughed as she left
"Lucile don't listen to her alright" said Hana "We trust you alright so let's how them in the festival" Lucile nodded and smiled a bit.
Music of trumpets emanated from the inside of the tent. The queue of groups walked inside to a massive empty space which had a large square-like line on the ground. They were directed to the west side of the square. Everyone was looking around to see what was going on than a space opened in the centre and a rather plump man appeared up from the space. He had black pants, a stripy shirt with a red jacket and top hat.
He spoke in a loud voice "Ladies and Gentlemen. I am the humble ringmaster of this glorious festival challenge" the crowd applauded loudly "now ladies and Gentlemen including competitors I bring the first challenge." As he finished the whole ground started rumbling.
The floor within the square disappeared and a large obstacle course appeared from the ground. There was a climbing wall, poles, climbing ropes and a zip-line, the space that the ringmaster was on had expanded to a considerable size in the middle of the obstacle and arisen above the ground like a stage.
"now ladies and Gentlemen here are the rules. There are three challenges, each team can only use one member for each challenge and they can only compete in one challenge each. The first challenge will have 4 teams at a time competing at once. Once the first and second place teams can move on. NO interfering other teams. Now can four teams step up for the 1st challenge acrobatics."
Hana thought about it and went to Lucile "Lucile can you do the first challenge for us please. I'm not really that good this kind of thing and I know Tema is not very good on his feet" Tema pretended not to hear that comment.
