In the vast empty world there still small signs of life surviving in the wasteland. One such place is a small village of about 15 people. All the people were murmuring over a mysterious boy who had just arrived in the village. One of the people was a young girl with red hair going into a large house to check up on the boy.
"Tema are you awake?" he was sat up on the floor "oh good you're up. Are you alright?" although he answered he looked drained
"I'm...fine"
"Come on then let's get you up" she helped him to his feet. He was a bit unsteady but able. She guided him outside, the village was small, there was only a few houses, a well, a single tree and a sort of raised wall.
The people outside looked at the wary warrior, there were mixed reactions. Some ignored and others ran into their homes. However a small boy ran up to him accompanied by a Wolf as tall as Tema was
"hey mister. You're all right now aren't you?" the wolf barked and wagged its tail
"don't worry I'm fine"
"Tema this is Alex and his pet Rex. He was the one who found you" explained Louise as Rex walked towards him. Tema petted him as Rex wagged happily. "I'm Louise. We brought you to our village or rather what's left of it". Tema could tell what she meant as he looked around.
Tema looked around the rather plain villain. The buildings looked weathered and there were remains of a wall outside the village which suggested it was much bigger then it was.
"Louise what's he doing outside?" this came from a rather mature looking man with black hair
"I'm just showing him around Dad" he walked over to Tema
"Louise, he could a dangerous warrior coming to assault this place. Couldn't you?" he pushed Tema unintentionally hard which made him fall backwards "well if your pretending to be weak you're doing a good job"
"Dad, leave him alone. You heard the healer he isn't completely okay yet"
Louise helped Tema back up to his feet "Dad, can you just leave him?"
"come on dear you've got to give him a chance" this came from a heavily pregnant woman. She wore only a long blue dress with fairly long brown hair
"but Amanda. He's could be dangerous" said Ryder
"Does he look dangerous Ryder?" she walked over to Tema "I must apologize we don't get a lot of visitors here so we're very wary of new people. Where do you come from?"
Tema didn't answer "So did you lose your home?" he simply nodded "so you've been wondering around for a long time. Well you can stay here if you want" Tema looked up at Amanda's beaming smile, he tried to smile back and managed a small one.
After a moment Ryder walked over to him "if you're staying here you're going to have to help out around the village. So first of all, go with Louise and find anything of value including firewood, food, water just anything you can find or salvage"
"it that alright dear?" said Amanda gently.
"come on Tema. You too Rex" said Louise
"don't forget me" said Alex.
Tema was led out of the village as Guinavere just joined up with the two. "General. What's wrong with the boy?" said Amanda "it's like his spark is dim and faded. It almost petered out, it took him enough strength just to smile"
