"Kaia! Hey, Kaia!" I heard from behind me.
I turned to see a brunette waving at me from inside Costa. I walked inside to see my friend who honestly, I had been desperate to talk to.
Hey Evie," I said smiling.
"OMG it's been forever! Where have you been?" She asked excitedly.
"Around," I said smirking.
She rolled her eyes at me. We'd been friends for so long, but I still wasn't very good at trusting people, even her.
"What about you? What are you doing in Southampton?" I asked her.
Evie lived in London. I knew she had family issues, but just like me, she wasn't very good at dealing with her emotions.
"You know, the usual."
I nodded understandingly. Living as an orphan is hard enough, and not much easier when you have a hormonal teenage brother.
"Is it your brother?"
"Yeh. He's just so stressed with...stuff," she said avoiding eye contact.
"Evie, what's going on?" I asked feeling worried. She never spoke of her brother, or her family. I didn't even know her last name.
"I've been lying to you Davina," she whispered, a tear welling up in her eye.
I said nothing, but I was growing more concerned every second that went by.
"I'm in a gang," she whispered.
Wait what?!?!
"Evie, what are you talking about?"
"I've been in a gang since I was twelve years old."
No, no this couldn't be! It couldn't be this Evie, that's impossible!
"My gang is very powerful."
Please, of there is a god, let this all be a joke. Please don't let me have walked back into the gang life again.
"And my brother..."
No, please don't mention your brother.
"You won't know him, but all gang members would."
I felt like I was about to faint.
"His name is Danny Summers."
