I tossed and turned, and rolled over for the 17th time. I threw the covers off and pulled them back on. I was too hot and too cold.
I wasn't getting the nightmare tonight. Tonight I just wasn't getting anything.
I gave up trying to sleep and reach to turn on my bedside lamp. Light filled the room and I stumbled to the bathroom. I took in my disheveled appearance in the mirror and groaned. I ran my fingers through my long hair and just willed the morning to come faster.
I walked back into my bedroom and lay down on the long window seat sofa. I had always loved these, since me was a child. I used to sit there whilst Seb told me stories of dragons and monsters. They held so many memories.
I sighed and leaned backwards. I couldn't understand why I couldn't sleep. I didn't remember anything that out of the ordinary today.
I got up, went to the shops, phoned kate, oh and I went to Costa with Evie.
I frowned, remembering my unusual encounter with Evie today. We had been distant ever since I found out that she was Evelyn Summers, sister to he who we shall not mention. I knew I had hurt her. For all she knew I was Kaia Mitchell, who never knew anything about gangs, or her brother, and she probably assumed that I'd just got bored of her.
I held my head in my hands. I had been running from my past for such a long time. Finally, I thought I could have a fresh start, a new life. But I always seem to be thrown back into the deep end.
What was I to do with Evie. The last thing I ever wanted to do was hurt her, but I would hurt her if she knew the truth, and I'm still hurting her every time I lie to her.
I don't know how to keep this friendship with her. What if she wants me to meet her family? Meet him? I couldn't do it. I just couldn't do it.
I remembered my original plan. The plan that I had promised Sam I would fufill. To get revenge on Sebastian. But I did not want to hurt the others, they didn't deserve it. Before I realised who Evie was, Evelyn Summers had just been a new on a sheet. A pawn in my game. But now I knew who she was, could I do that to her?
Is hurting Sebastian really worth hurting her?
But how could I let him get away with all of the awful things he's done? To me, that man in the street, our family?
I guess the sayings true...
Sometimes there's honour in revenge.
