He's blood was still boiling, his heart still pounding, his hands still fisted, his jaw still clenched from what Hayden had said. A freak; she had called her. He couldn't believe that he had even associated with someone like her. He looks at his father, whom was talking to Mr. Winston, and realizes he knows exactly why he surrounds himself with someone like her. It was all people of his status did.
He shivers. Looking down and seeing nothing but his towel he notes it wasn't just the realization that made him shiver. He starts for the parlor door.
    "Lex, in my study."
"Yes, Father." he mutters without looking in that direction. He turns to his room; best to get some clothes before talking to his father.
"No need for modesty now Lex, your present appearance will do."
Alexander turns and heads toward the study.
    "Yes, Father." He says.
Being barefoot ones notice a lot more about the flooring. Alexander cursed him self for not bring his shoes from the pool. Head had only been thinking about getting Hayden back to his room. She was willing to go all the way but claimed only in his bed.
Now he realized that Lila was probably in his room from the start; hearing Hayden had probably convinced her to move. Had the thought of them being together gave Lila her panic attack? Now the thought of bringing Hayden to the room was pretty stupid; Lila was usually in his room after school waiting for him. If he had pressured Hayden she would have agreed to anything in the pool. Why had he wanted to take her inside. Was he worried that Lila would have found them; Mr. Winston? Did he subconsciously want Lila to see them? Want Hayden to see Lila in his room?
He walks into his father's study. His head still running through their thoughts. There is something on the bureau plat that catches his eye. He walks over to the box. The jagged rock inside has a light green glow to it; the box it's in seems to be slightly heavy for table on which it sits. His is reached out to pick up the rock.
    "Curiosity, murdered the boy"
Alexander quickly turned his towel slipping. He quickly picks it up and rewraps it.
Mr. Winston is behind his father his face once again looks stricken and he grips the wall to stable himself.
    "Cold son?"
Lionel Luthor walks past Alexander and closes the box. He notice Mr. Winston stand a little straighter and the strain leaving his face. He ignores his father's question and starts toward the frail old man in the doorway.
"Fine sir." Mr. Winston says as he bows slightly and takes his leave leaving him and his father alone. Alexander shuts the door. His father continues to talk.
"I saw that young Peridot girl leave as Monroe and I were pulling in; want to explain son?"
He doesn't expect they would be having the talk. His father would be a couple of years late for that; Mr. Winston was sure to have that talk weeks before he even needed it.
"We just went for a swim, sir"
    "Your suits got lost?"
    "No, father."
"I will not have a illegitimate heir, Lex."
    "Nothing happened, today, father."
"Should I be worried about other days?"
    "No sir."
Lionel walks to the cabinet and pours himself a drink. He brings it up to his lips as he looks at Alexander. He scoffs and the drink is gone within two swallows.
"At least we will not have to worry about that for now."
    "What's in the box father?"
"That is the question is it not? Another would be what was wrong with Miss Monroe?"
"I'm not sure; a panic attack is what Mr. Winston believed."
    "A panic attack?"
    "Yes, why?"
Lionel laughs as if he was the only one in the room aware of the joke. He refills his drink and moves to his desk, sits on the edge, and looks at his oblivious son.
"You do know how she feels, Lex?"
    "Lila?"
"Yes, son it's obvious. Are you sure her incident had nothing to do with that Peridot girl."
    "We are just friends, dad."
Lionel's head shifts and he looks intensely at his son.
    "Friends?"
    "Yes, Father."
"But you care about her more than, a friend."
"Dad there is a three year difference."
"That won't seem to matter when your older. You have gotten close to her, Lex. I know you know a lot more about her and what she can do then you let on. You could learn even more son."
"You want me to get closer to her, in that way, to learn her secrets?"
    "It would benefit; us."
    "No."
"Son, you know that we need to learn in order to understand how to create."
"No, Dad. I will not use her to help you learn how to benefit your little monsters." Alexander says as he turns to leave. He wasn't going to stay and listen to his father convince him that using Lila's secrets was for the common good. Lionel speaks right as he opens the study door.
"Then don't use her, Lex. Show you genuine feelings."
He scoffs and walks out heading too his room. He goes by the parlor on his way and sees Mr. Winston helping the maid he admires. He stops and walks over to Alexander.
"Are you okay, sir?" He ask out of genuine concern although he knew he couldn't do anything if he wasn't.
    "Yes."
    "But?"
    "He never did answer."
    "Answer what, sir?"
    "What was in the box?"
Mr. Winston lowers his voice so only Alexander could hear him; he almost had to read his lips to understand.
"If your father wanted you to know about his meteor rock in its lead box he would have told you."
    Alexander nods and responds.
"I'm off to my room now. See you at dinner."
"I'm seeing my daughter today, sir."
    "I didn't know you had a daughter."
    "A grandchild as well."
"Have a good time Mr. Winston."
    "Thank you sir."
Alexander makes his way to his room. Once inside he grabs some clothes and thinks about the events that transpired today. He was confused about where Lila and his relationship was headed. He knew he had to protect her from his father. Least she be the subject to multiple testing. The weirdest part of the evening other than Lila's panic attack was Mr. Winston.
When he had whispered to him earlier Alexander had almost the same sensation as when Lila is in his head. In the study Mr. Winston also had similar attack to Lila. He was better at concealing it. The similarities were too much to be a coincidence and he would find out why. Or his father might find a new subject and Lila would no longer be needed.
