When the adorable three-year-old boy was first seen in front of the orphanage, James was sure people would do anything to take him home. His opinion grew stronger as he saw that Liam was the perfect child. But nothing happened. Children were getting adopted, even the bullies, but Liam stayed there. After Zayn's departure, he turned even quieter than before. He avoided any kind of contact and James was the only person he talked to. People noticed the cute curly-haired boy every time and he was nearly everybody's first choice. But when they tried to talk to him, he kept silence. And all of them eventually gave up, looking for someone easier to raise. Even though, it was out of his control, James felt guilty for the kid's luck. If only Zayn stayed. But he was the only one who kept trying to cheer him up. He was glad that Zayn got into a nice family and had the chance to live a good life. And he wanted to do the same for Liam, even without other people's help. And that's why one day Liam found himself in front of a big modern-looking high school building. He had no idea how James managed to enroll him, as orphans did not often get the best education. But at that moment he had a bigger problem: talking to people. And he could only hope that the teachers wouldn't embarrass him by asking questions in front of the whole class. He quietly walked to the first classroom that was noted on his schedule and, luckily for him, there was nobody inside yet. As always he took a book and started reading a new chapter, not stopping even when he could hear footsteps and voices. A few students glanced at him but didn't say anything. Liam pulled his book closer to his face, trying to be invisible. The class soon started but Liam's attention was still on his book, as the teacher was simply doing a brief introduction of the course. As he got to the following chapter, the class finished, and Liam waited for the others to exit, so he would continue his peaceful day. He wasn't the only new student, so he had no reason to fear any extra attention. However, when he was collecting his things from the table, someone approached him. Feeling a hand on his shoulder, Liam looked up and found a handsome dark-haired lad staring at him. His eyes were narrowed and it was hard to identify the color.

- Hey. I'm sorry for distracting you, but I just wanted to ask. Is your name by any chance Liam? - he asked.

Liam leaned further in his seat, confused of how the boy knew his name. But he still answered in a soft voice, not wanting to seem impolite.

- Y-yes?

Just as the small sound left his mouth, the other boy's face lit up with an enormous grin and he engulfed Liam in a tight hug, wrapping his strong inked arms around the boy.

- Oh my God, Liam! I knew something felt familiar. - he exclaimed and pressed Liam closer to himself.

Liam's tensed body relaxed, when he finally recognized his favorite accent. He ignored the other students' glares and hugged him back.

- Zayn?! - he whispered, not fully comprehending if he was hallucinating or not.

Zayn pulled away and held Liam at arm's length, so he could see every little detail of his face.

- I've been waiting for this moment since I left you. I missed you so much!

- I missed you too, Zee. - Liam answered gently.

Their moment was short-lived as people were walking in and out of the classroom. Zayn was the first to stand up. He took Liam's hand and dragged him to his next class.

- You haven't changed at all, you know? Mostly children get annoying and mean as they grow up, but you're the same cute curly kid. - he chuckled, ruffling Liam's hair.

Liam giggled and tried to run away from Zayn's evil hands, protecting his brown curls. But it was no use as Zayn's tall figure was right by his side again. Some students were looking in their direction, whispering to each other. From the way they were glancing at Zayn, it was obvious how popular he was. How could he not be? He was the perfect mixture of artistic and kind nature people fell in love with and the hot, tattoo-covered senior guy everybody wanted to date. And then, there was Liam with a simple white t-shirt, light jeans, and messy hairstyle, looking like he was lost there. He was frightened to be around other students, especially since they all came from normal families unlike him. So, he sticked to the only safe thing he knew. After years of solitude, he finally had his childhood friend back.

To Be Continued...

Ok, this looks like something 10-year-old me would write, but here it is. I'll try to make the next part better.
