There Was a Girl

There was a girl,

Whose eyes held the stars in them.

Her smile lit up the room.

Everyone thought she was a gem.

There was a girl,

Who put everyone before her wealth.

She tried her best to make everyone else happy,

That she forgot about her own health.

There was a girl,

Whose eyes darkened.

Her smile became non-existent.

And her soul weakened.

There was a girl,

Who wrote her heart on these pages.

Who lost all her dreams,

From being locked in these cages.

Soon she was gone.

And as her eyes lost her light,

So did her soul.

But she hid it behind an "I'm alright."
