A butterfly guided Odette to the back gate of her uncle's garden. Totally mesmerised by the shine of its wings and the hum of it's flutter, Odette didn't notice where the butterfly was taking her until she got startled by a man standing before her.
"Marius?" Odette asked, quietly in a breath.
"I'm afraid I have never known you like this Mademoiselle... You remind me of a dear friend of mine, but you, Mademoiselle are more than a friend." Marius explained.
"I'm not acquainted with you either, Monsieur..." Odette admitted.
"A heart full of love!" Marius began.
"A heart full of song!
I'm doing everything all wrong -
Oh God, for shame - I do not even know your name.
Dear Mad'moiselle,
Won't you say?
Will you tell?"
Odette placed her soft hands on the wrought-ironwork of the gate her eyes on Marius. As Éponine was concealed away in the shadows, Odette could confess to Marius. Odette smiled brightly as Marius wrapped his hands over her's, his eyes admiring every perfect feature on her face.
"A heart full of love!
No fear, no regret!" Odette beamed.
"My name is Marius Pontmercy." Marius introduced himself.
"And mine's Odette." Odette revealed.
"Odette... I don't know what to say -" Marius doubted.
"Then make no sound." Odette comforted.
"I am lost -" Marius exclaimed.
"I am found!" Odette assured.
"A heart full of light -" Marius smiled.
"A night bright as day -" Odette joined in.
"And you must never go away, Odette -
Odette!" Marius pleaded.
"This is a chain we'll never break." Odette promised.
"Do I dream?" Marius questioned.
"I'm awake." Odette informed, reassuring Marius this was all real.
"A heart full of love -" Marius sang.
"He was never mine to lose
Why regret
What could not be?" Éponine whispered from her hiding place.
"A heart full of you -" Odette corrected Marius.
"A single look and then I knew!" Marius revealed.
"I knew it too!" Odette informed.
"These are words he'll never say." Éponine realised.
"From today -" Marius breathed contently.
"Not to me, not to me" Éponine wept quietly.
She wiped away a few tears.
"His heart full of love..." Eponine sighed.
"Every day..." Odette hummed.
