AN:

Hello! Yes, I'm still alive! Sorry for not updating for such a long time.

Exams are finally over, and I had the time to finish this chapter, so here ya go. Please, enjoy. (/^•^)/

A few minutes later, when he had turned up at the hangar where Batman was waiting for him, he nearly fainted. Only a few steps away was the Batplane, in all it’s smooth, black, aerodynamic glory. Was he supposed to sit in that thing?

Batman looked at him expectantly. “That’s all?”

Reaper glanced down at the paper-bag clutched in his hands. In the few days he had spent at Mount Justice – avoiding everyone the best he could by hiding in his room – he hasn’t acquired any new gadgets or clothes. Except maybe a new pair of underwear and a T-shirt. Those were nice. Though he had to admit, the little soaps in the bathroom smelled way too great to just leave them there, so he might have taken a few. Considering all of this, he didn’t have all that much to take with him.

He nodded, mouth still agape from the sight of the plane.

“Please tell me I can—”

“No.”

“B-but you didn’t even let me—”

“No.”

Reaper, although he was quite embarrassed about it, fell asleep on the plane.

The excitement of being in the air slowly wore off as his recent troubles clouded his vision. His eyes turned distant and glazed over as he drummed his fingers on his seat absentmindedly. One tap, breathe in. One tap, breathe out. Two taps, a flash of colour before his eyes. Three taps, a faceless man. Five taps, pain in his neck—he hissed and lifted his hand to massage it. He was getting tired. While in the Mountain, he didn’t want to let his guard down. There was too much noise, a buzz of life he wasn’t used to experiencing from so close. The silence of the Bat and the rushing air outside the little cabin of the aircraft seemed oddly comforting. Comforting enough to rest his eyes for a moment... then slowly fall asleep.

He couldn’t tell how much time passed. He might have slept for minutes, hours maybe. He was too tired to care.

He could vaguely feel the jet descending slowly then coming to a halt with a jolt. He shot up in his seat, only to be held back by the seatbelt. It tightened from the sudden movement, pressing into his chest awkwardly with more force than before. He totally forgot about those. Panic rose in his chest, sealing his throat and stopping any sound from coming out. He didn’t like being bound. His vision was getting blurry. Suddenly Dr Desmond came to the front of his mind as he stood before him. It wasn’t the seatbelt holding him down anymore, it was hands and straps cutting into his skin. Hands all over him, impeding any movement as white spots flashed across his vision. Reaper blinked rapidly, willing the offending face away, but it only made things worse. Something moved across his chest and he could breathe again. His lungs filled with air for a second, only to be pushed out by panic. He couldn’t be free, could he? It must have been an illusion, because Dr Desmond was still there. There’s no way he was letting Reaper go now that he has gotten his hands on him again. No way. His dreams – or were those memories—had shown him. He had him once in the past; captured him the second time ‘round. If he had him again, he wouldn’t let him escape just like that. The scientist was now standing above him, looking down at him and holding something in his hands. His lips were moving, like he was saying something. Reaper couldn’t make out what. He was getting closer.
