Chapter 4

After making his escape, Reaper limped to an alley, still bleeding from the injury the batarang made on his right thigh. With the rush of adrenaline gone, he started to realize just what a perfect spot Batman had hit. Every movement hurt.

The hero had a suit of kevlar-armor thingie covering him, so it wasn't really the depth of the cuts he had to worry about. It was the poison seeping through the cut layer of skin that was bothersome.

But Reaper, he just had jeans. And it wasn't really the best thing one could have on in a fight with the Bat.

He was seriously lucky he had had a very basic first aid kit in his bag. It was really just a bandage and some band-aids... but hey, it was better then nothing. At least it kept him from bleeding out.

The alley widened at the end to reveal a quite busy looking club. Above the entrance the words 'The Iceberg Lounge' were written in bold blue letters.

Reaper entered the building and showed a crumpled piece of paper with the Penguin's signature, in every guard's face, who dared to try and stop him from entering closed off areas. They immediately let him pass.

After the umpteenth hall, he finally reached his destination. The room wasn't anything special, aside from being soundproof of course. In the middle, behind a plate of salmon sat Penguin himself.

"Finally," he croaked "you're here. I started to doubt you, little Reaper."

The young boy grimaced at a particularly disgusting noise that came from the Penguin consuming his dinner.

"We had an agreement." He showed a small bag to emphasise his statement, then put it down before the Penguin with a loud thud.

"Oh, so loyally keeping yourself to the deal! Like a dog! Eeeh eh eh ehe."

Reaper scowled and clenched a hand over his hoodie to stop himself from taking out any weapons. This was more important than to let himself lose control over a small insult.

Finally, after checking the contents of the bag, Penguin nodded at one of his henchmen. The man left, and then returned with a disc.

"That," Penguin gestured to the DVD "is the handy little program you asked for. The gentleman I got it from was, how to put it... reluctant to part with it. I'm quite sure you can make good use of it."

The man handed over the small disc, then with an awkward glance at his boss, returned to the sidelines.

"Also, you might want to take care of that wound" Penguin nodded at his leg "wouldn't want it to get infected now, would we?"

"Of course... um well, thanks, I think." he mumbled as he glanced around at the tons of heavy muscle in the room. People... Too much people. He could never get used to that.

The awkward silence getting the better of him, he finally turned to face the doors.

"Um... anyways, 'twas a pleasure seeing ya'!" It was best to leave before the Penguins hospitality wore out.

On the roof of Reaper's hideout/ home/ lair... thing?

"Woah!" The black haired teen exclaimed when he got the program running on his small computer. "This is even better than I imagined. Best. Day. EVER!" His injured thigh twitched.

The program was basically a direct action virus. These kinds of viruses infect the main memory; copy themselves and then infect files or even the whole computer when a specific program is run. It all depends on their programming. For example, when one tries to open an .exe file when having this virus, the virus will be run too and it would make a copy of itself and spread to other files every time the code is executed.(1)

They are easy to detect with a simple anti-virus scan and are not always harmful, but Reaper was about to change that. He planned to update this basic program into something, that, when finally done, would save him weeks of work 'hacking' into certain computers later. Something that would be sitting under everyone's nose and still wouldn't be detected. It all seemed pretty far-fetched, but he liked a challenge. Breaking the firewalls himself and such to get info was fun, but it seemed to be too slow now; with every important place being on the lookout for hackers.

Oh yes, this was going to be fun!
