Join in the midnight masquerade,

And dance as the stars begin to fade,

One by one the smiles break,

They waver, they were always fake.

Link arms with silent enemies

And weep with the willow trees

As the light begins to fade

During the stranger's masquerade.

Lie with your tongue between your teeth,

Force a smile, and twirl beneath

The eyes as they begin to fade

At the liar's masquerade.

Hide behind secondhand laughter,

Borrowed before the morning after,

And dance before the night begins to fade,

It's only hiding a temporary masquerade.
