It was from that motion, that movement. That strange feeling that seemed to click inside of me, that caused what happened next. At first when the creature moved towards me, I thought it was in the motion of an attack. I braced myself.
Prepared myself for death.
But instead it pushed me into the water and began to swim around me. It swam over me and under me before it grabbed my hand and pulled me. I hesitated for a moment and it smiled a beautiful, hypnotic smile in my direction. It's eyes lit up suddenly.
I allowed the creature to pull me and just as what had happened with the dolphin we appeared to be playing. We dived in and out of the water, letting the waves guide us to our destination. For some reason, the way we moved together reminded me of beautiful dance. I span in the water whilst the creature seemed to be able to create unusual air bubbles that formed hoops.
The moon light fell into the water, providing enough light for me to see as much as I needed to. I could still see farely clearly and the moonlight itself seemed to form an intricate dance on the sea floor. Everything about that night, how the moon light danced with us, how the dolphins played beside us, all of it seemed absolutely magical. The sea had become even more enchanting for me and soon time flew by and I remembered that I had to return home.
I stopped what I was doing and glanced at the creature. It tried to encourage me to continue playing but I shook my head. The creature looked at me in concern as we rose out of the water.
"I have to go home," I whispered, my voice filled with disappointment. The creature looked at me in confusion. I grabbed the creatures hand and pulled him towards the land and once I arrived there, I removed the tail and sat, with my feet still dangling into the water. The creature began to look at my legs, completely intrigued before it appeared to panic slightly. "Don't worry," I said in a soft voice, "I'm not going to hurt you"
All of a sudden, it seemed as if the creature could understand my words and immediately, it began to settle. "Look, if you can understand this then I hope that you will come and meet me here, tomorrow night," I said after a moment of silence yet I wasn't sure whether the creature could understand me. After a long pause, the creature released the same noise as before and nodded, whilst pointing to the ocean and the land. "Here, tomorrow night?" The creature nodded a second time and I smiled.
"Can you speak?" I asked but received no answer. "Do you have a name I can call you?" Yet again, no answer. I sighed before I began to limp across the small wooden dock with the tail hung over my arms. I glanced over my shoulder and the creature appeared to wave at me and so I returned the wave and smiled before I continued to limp home.
