My words didn't seem to comfort my newly found friend. He stared at me, and what I could only describe as tears, began to fall down his face. Gently, with an unusual grace, he caressed the bruises. "Friend, do not worry and do not fear for me," I said with a comforting, warm smile. My voice seemed to carry some sort of wisdom far beyond my years, it were as if, a stranger had spoken.

Before anything else could be done, I dived into the water and my head rose opposite the creatures. I giggled nervously, unsure of why I felt so nervous all of a sudden, but yet, I did.

"I wish I knew your name, things would be far easier," I said after a long moment of silence whilst I stared into his beautiful big eyes. There was an unusual beauty about this creature, a beauty that was far beyond any human that I'd ever met. The creature released a strange sound, that sounded awefully like a chuckle or a laugh and I couldn't help but giggle again.

Even though, we couldn't communicate through one language, through speech even, somehow we seemed to communicate on a different level. A stronger yet deeper level.

"Let's see, you can call me Rosetta, I've always liked that name," I muttered as we began to swim along the surface. "But what can I call you?" I paused for a moment, "Would you mind if I called you Hadrian?"

He stopped and nodded, as if he had just understood what I had said. "Its Latin, it means 'the dark one or a man from the sea, as in the Adriatic'," the creature nodded again only this time he seemed far more excited and after much thought, I knew this creature was certainly male.

Hadrian took my hand in his, it felt kind of rubbery and not like a human hand even though I could his fingers as they wrapped around my palm and suddenly, he dived down, taking me into the glorious depths of the ocean with him.

The moonlight bounced around the sea floor with a new life, a new song and a new dance. It were as if something had brought a new magic to the dark depths of the ocean. Then, suddenly I felt it. It were like an unusual warmth building up in my body. Radiating from very core. From my heart. Hadrian came to a sudden stop and released my hand before looking at me, clearly confused by something. I glanced down at my hands, unsure of what was occuring until I saw it.

And when I saw it, I seemed to suddenly understand.
